WalMart ~ Black Friday 2009 ~ My compliments to Walmart

I would just like to say, it could not have been smoother at 2am for my Black Friday shopping at the new Walmart in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. They had the sale items out for buying, sales prices ringing up properly. The BIG ticket items, such as the bikes and TV's, had aisle "waiting corrals". No outside in the rain and cold. I would have liked to get my son a bike, but I was not in the mood to wait. I was able to get everything else on my list, and be home to take a nap before hitting the rest of the stores.
Only negative I could see would be if you wanted to get 2 or more of the big ticket items, because I think you had to stay in the waiting area. So you couldn't hold 2 spots at once.
But judging from nightmare stories I have heard over the years, and the tragedy last year, it was a blessing. Thank you Walmart of Lanoka!

Re: My compliments to Walmart
Yeah, Walmart really did an excellent JOB this year. Shopping was a breeze, off course I did not go for any of the big ticket items but it was nice to not have to stand in line in the cold and be pushed while everyone rushed in like mad ants to get to the item they were looking for.

Re: My compliments to Walmart
The only thing I seen wrong with what Walmart did was, or at least my store did, they did not give out the tickets until 4:45. They only had 19 of the $198 laptops, and I got there at 3 am. Every once in a while they would say up close to the front of the line that they only had 19. Everyone that was in line could not hear that, nor did they go all the way through the line making that announcement. They had a bunch of ticked off customers that stood in line for a long time, only to find out at 4:45 they were too far back to get one. Yes, I did get one..yeah!! The first guy that was in line said he got there at 12:15am. I was #11 getting there at 3 am.
My son's girlfriend went to another Walmart in another part of the state to try to get one of the laptops. She got there at 3am, and they had already given out all the tickets. Why can WM not be consistant in what they do? At least she didn't have to stand in line for almost 2 hours to find out she wasn't one to get one.

Re: My compliments to Walmart
We went to Walmart at 2:30 PM (not am) and they had plenty of Tom Tom's, many tvs, most of the kitchen stuff was in stock, stacks and stacks of the Blue Ray players. I was amazed it was not all gone. The store was pretty busy.
I never met a coupon I did not like.

Re: My compliments to Walmart
Well. I went to walmart at 9.m. and byt he looks of it there was a lot of people waiting outside! there were barricades, tons of coffee and hot cocoa cups all over the sidewalk and trewn papers it was a mess. but while we were entering they were begining to celan up the mess. In addition they had extra staff on hand wearing yellow jackets on it felt like we were at a concert or something with all the extra staff. It seemed like they were doing a good job on mainting everything in order and what i liked when i entered that store was that they had the ingenious idea of blowing up millar ballons with the prices on them and had them tied way high so that you can see the prices from afar. good job on that and they had balloons marked with letters which each one represented a hot ticket item. many people with tvs and clothing. however, my complaint was with the cah registers. they did not seem as organized and there were realy long slow moving lines! but all in all the did a much better job this year. now old navy wow! there was not kidding 100 people in line to purchase their items! it was crazy! and this was at 1pm! i just left. came home found the same items i wanted online!

Re: My compliments to Walmart
I went to our local Walmart at 2:30 am and it was insanely ridiculous. There were 7 cops, 3 security guards and employees everywhere "guarding" the wrapped blitz items. (We live in a small, rural suburban area...it was nuts. They gave out ALL the tickets at midnight. So, there was NOTHING available...no laptops, no DS lites, no big TVs, no big ticket items at all. I was told that all the tickets for those items were handed out at midnight and I was furious because they have NEVER done it this way in the past and were not supposed to do it this way today according to a cashier I knew from church. I really wanted one of those $198 laptops and my mom even said if it was what I wanted for Christmas she would send me the money to pay for it! GRRRR! I hate Walfart today. :hectic1::hectic1:
