My stores the same. Maybe one fight over a TV once ever other year.

Oh, another thing I just remembered... some store will have security set up at the door and allowing people to enter only a few at a time. My store is 24 hrs so we don't have a problem w/ trampling the door since people can enter any time they'd like.

I'm sure I'll find out even more details in the coming weeks. We haven't had our big meeting for "The Event" (Walmart isn't calling it Blitz this year... instead its The Event) I'll keep everyone posted. Of course I can't post what the hot items are.. but its usually the same type stuff every year... laptops, Dvd players, TVs, trampolines, etc.

This year there will be a ticket system and lines. The hot ticket items will be set up around the store (Site to store, electronics, pharmacy, some will be in grocery too since no one is actually buying groceries at that hour on black friday, etc). There will be lines to stand in for those items and unless you are buying the item, you are NOT allowed in the line. There will be line monitors. Some of the the items you will have to go ahead and pay for. Possibly all, I'm not sure. Larger items you will get a ticket and drive around back. ALL Wal-marts have to submit a layout and plan of there store of where the items will be. Supposedly these are going to be posted online sometime before the sale so customers can pull it up beforehand so they'll know where to get in line.

My store is going to have 6 police officers, which isn't really a change from any other year. My store happens to be a "Tier 3 store" which means we don't have a lot of violence issues, in safe area of town, etc. Tier 2 & 1 store are the rougher stores (in bad neighborhood, history of violence, etc). Tier 2 & 1 stores have to have additional security.

I'm on the safety team at my store so I have to be there at 4am. No black friday shopping for me :shrug7:
Thanks for the info. Hopefully everything will run alot smoother! Sounds like a good effort is being put forth.

Last year ours was either 4 or 5...and we stood in the checkout line (because no one was checking) until that time. They had 2 registers open for people who needed something that was not bf related. But the rest waited until exactly that time (4 or 5) to start checking out. However, they opened the wrapped bf specials 30 minutes to an hour before they could start checking out. So listen for 2 different times. One will be when you can get the great deals in your basket and the other when you can check out. Hope this helps!

Ours did not unwrap anything until 5am, and they announced, "Associates, cut open your pallets. It is now sale time!"

I did the online thing last year for all of the deals at Walmart. I got the jammies, coats, DVD's , jeans.. etc all for the same price as in the store and didn't have to freeze.
My word of advice is check out a few times or as fast as you can as the things in your cart can and are often sold our while you are shopping.

Just an FYI, my newspaper today had the black friday ad in it so maybe that is why they are not allowing the release online until tomorrow...they will have already released it to the masses.

This happened to me on a couple of things, mostly toys. Yeah, good advice.
