WALMART ~ Largest Super Wal-mart on East Coast located in N VA

Hi,

Today I also shopped early at the Sterling, VA Wal-mart which is located in N VA area. At our store, they are remodeling the store to be a Wal-mart Supercenter. It was supposed to be finished by September 2009; but will not be completed until October 2009.

I spoke to a regional manager (blue shirt manager) today about the re-opening/Grand Opening date for the Supercenter. He told me that it would be the LARGEST Wal-mart Supercenter on the East Coast! Currently, the largest Wal-mart Supercenter is around 220,000 square feet that was recently built new in Gloucester, VA, which is their newest "prototype". Ours here in Sterling, VA (N VA area) will be larger than Gloucester, VA's store--wow!:hectic1:
I also mentioned about their "Price Matching Policy" and how "confusing" it was for customers across the country with cashiers and CSM making up their own rules for couponing/price matching, etc. He told me just to bring a full ad/circular from where I wished to price match; and the cashier/CSM would do it correctly! So we shall see. I also mentioned the coupon policies on their website that was recently updated.

He was very friendly and customer service oriented. He told me yes that they accept store coupons and what the policy states on their site is true. I told him that I carried a copy of Wal-mart's coupon policy (and other stores) to make sure my purchases were done correctly at the registers. He told me to be sure that the cashiers, etc. were doing their jobs correctly and let him know if there were any "issues".

So if any on you are in N VA area, check out the Sterling, VA store. Even though the remodeling is kinda a "pain"; he told me that they will repave the parking lot and will have two great entrances/exits.

Just thought I would update "y'all" Northern Virginians on the Sterling, VA Wal-mart Supercenter Grand Opening plans. I was at the Lowe's near the Wal-mart today shopping and decided to check out the progress of the conversion of the Wal-mart.

Anyway, I talked to a store manager and she told me that the "soft grand reopening" would be 10/28/09. The "official grand opening" will be 11/11/09. I also confirmed their Wal-mart "price matching policies"; she confirmed what the "written" policies are on Wal-mart's website. She said any issues about cashiers, CS clerks, etc., making up their own "coupon rules" to let her and other managers know. She would make sure that everyone abided by the rules! We shall see--right?

Just carry a printed copy of their policies to their stores she suggested. She told me that the store will be over 300,000 square feet and it looks like it! Garden center will be done and so will everything else on 11/11/09.

Also, since we are from the South (GA areas originally), it is hard to find certain southern veggies that HT doesn't carry in stock. She told me that Wal-mart will order whatever you need by the case and to just provide the food managers the sku #'s, product description, and other info so they can order.

I can finally get my white acre peas and other southern veggies! Yeah!

Just wanted to remind all you N Va-ers that the Sterling, VA Wal-mart Supercenter which was remodeled and expanded to 230,000 square feet plus--will have their Grand Opening 11/11/09, Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

This is the largest Super Wal-mart on the East Coast according to the managers. I stopped by today and it huge!

I went to the new Wal-mart Supercenter today in Sterling, VA after I took my twins (2 of our 6 kids) to their dental appointment for their teethcleaning. Pretty good store and huge!

I'd love to shop there if it was NOT in Manassas. I do hate that area. YES you can say it, I am a snob.Plus if school is in you have to dodge the thugs on the corner smokin' on there lunch break.

I went to the store in Sterling, VA. I prefer the Front Royal, VA location which is about 30 minutes from our farm in Loudoun/Fauquier County areas. The people at Front Royal Wal-mart Supercenter you can actually understand and "price match" correctly.

The Front Royal store is brand new for about a year and 204,000+ square feet. We make the "loop" from Super Target stores in Gainesville and Bristow, VA and also Wal-mart Supercenter in Front Royal, VA. I make the "loop" also to Dollar General and Family Dollar stores in Warrenton, VA and the new Dollar Tree which is huge across from the Front Royal Wal-mart Supercenter. The Dollar Tree in Warrenton is not quite as big as the new Dollar Tree in Front Royal.

Try these stores sometime.

I'm in Winchester and hve 2 Supercenter (though 1 is a lot older they are trying to remodel it and "clean" it up). Our second one is newer, about the same time the one in Front Royal was built. I haven't been over there yet, though it's not too far away. I might have to stop in Sterling one day when I'm out that way riding my bike.

Update--Just want to post that the Sterling, VA Wal-mart Supercenter is NOT the largest store. It is still in Gloucester, VA.

The Sterling, VA store is 213,000 square feet (about 10,000 square feet more than the Front Royal, VA store). This is according to the Walmart.com web site.:hectic1:
