We get a Publix and a Target add in our paper, but the nearest Publix and Target are an hour away. I can see how this would be helpful in that case :)

I have family out of state, but by the time I would pay postage to mail me the ads,not to mention their time doing it,not quite worth it. Too bad they will not just let us print out ads to price match. I do not see this action bringing forth a new consumer base. I personally think that their doing this is in response to Target's new policy.

News Re: WALMART RUMOR Price Matching Policy Change

    Freeman36 and others--

It is hard to get coupons and ads from other out-of-state and regional newspapers. Most newspapers (in my experience) when you subscribe to their local and/or national newspapers--DO NOT include any of the LOCAL grocery ads or the coupon ads. I tried this with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) after we relocated to N VA. No ads or coupons were in the mail order paper. So I did not renew my subscription.

One thing that I have found out about LOCAL REGIONAL newspapers here in N VA is that most local newspaper outlets ALSO publish the SAME paper(s) for other nearby counties and/or areas. For example, The Times newspapers are a REGIONAL newspaper chain here in N VA.

Therefore, since we live in one county; and I live close to a neighboring county--I can obtain FREE COPIES of the SAME newspaper with the neighboring counties name on the front page and the OTHER local sales ads and/or extra coupons. Usually our local regional libraries or newspaper stands have the neighboring county papers. Check out your regional library branches. That is where I get FREE newspapers.

One other place to check for FREE LOCAL newspapers is at your local Barnes and Noble bookstores. Here in N VA, our Reston, VA Barnes and Noble store carries the local papers.

Sometimes a charge for the paper if in the newstand. Also, check for local FREE papers that some people think are "useless papers" that are thrown on your driveways. Sometimes those papers have coupons and sales ads.

    Have fun--

I'm excited about the possibilities! My Wal-Mart will currently only match prices for local stores, and by local I mean the few little grocery stores we have in town. Nothing else. I get the Little Rock paper, so if they are going to price match everyone then I will have a lot more opportunities to save. Here's hoping this new policy comes to my area!
