The same thing happened to me today. the cashier told me since it doesn't say "manufacturer coupon" on it and that you get them from other stores that you cant use them here. She told me they were another stores coupons! I said no, the hefty coupons come from a blinkie machine that are at a ton of stores, and she proceeded to say, but not from here! I then said well i used them just a week ago here and she called the manager, who then called the cash office to ask. The cash office lady said as long as it has no other stores logo on it that they could take it! I was sooo happy Also, about them not scanning, if they dont scan the right barcode, it beeps and says scan other barcode, so that may have been what happened to you!

| re: Walmart: Read before posting vent or complaint ~ 2009 - 2010 I actually had a cashier tell me today that they could not accept my IP q's because they had been told to only accept them if they were in color!!
He did end up taking them in the end but I thought that was so funny.

| re: Walmart: Read before posting vent or complaint ~ 2009 - 2010 My first post after lurking almost a year - and the main subject is not commending the contributors of this entire forum on JOB WELL DONE, but complaining about Wal-Mart. Nonethless, I will share with you my 3000-character limited message to Wal-Mart regarding a recent experience: "WOW - where to begin with only 3000 characters. Having been educated in business through Master's level, I have always spoken highly of Wal-Mart for their business model. The end result gave people products that they could have never otherwise afforded. And while that may still remain true to a degree, the competitors are agressive, and I can not remember a truly pleasant Wal-Mart experience in the last 5+ years. "But I will stick to just one experience. I shop my Wal-Mart in the wee hours of the morning when my children are sleeping and I can take my time finding what I need/want. This was the case September 11, 2009 when I arrived around 4am. All was well until the checkout experience. I waited only a short period of time before putting my items on the belt and having them scanned by a familiar face. Of my 25+ items, I probably had coupons for 20 of them. Yes, I am a couponer (and mind you, not a con-artist, criminal, or derelict). The items in which I did not have coupons for were for things that I could afford because of all the time and hard work I put into researching the sales ad, clipping my Sunday coupons and getting to the store to use them. "The additional merchandise I had chosen were some patriotic favors slightly marked down and a couple of home decor items. "I present the coupons to the cashier who carefuly and slowly scans them and after she figured out which buttons to push (when it asked if the coupon amount was valid), all coupons went through. My total was around $24, as I recall. But there was an error on her side where the CSM was requested. "After waiting about 10 minutes for the CSM to arrive, CSM begins to read the coupons and explain how the coupon states only one coupon is allowed for the item per purchase. And that is exactly what was going on here: I had two Chinet plates to purchase and presented 2 Chinet coupons, etc. CSM continued that one of the coupon's fine print WAS SO FINE that she could not even read it nor accept it (for an Adam's flea collar). "Well, knowing and understanding coupon language, manufacturers who are truly trying to restrict the amount of an item you purchase will be more specific to include wording such as "per order" or "per household." I was purchasing multiple items: 2 Chinet plates, 2 Huggies wipes, 2 Glade candles, etc., and had the equivalent amount of coupons presented for each item 2-2-and 2. I am not attempting to use more than one coupon on ONE item. "After spending more than 30 minutes in line (and as usual, not arguing with the know-it-alls), transaction is voided and new transaction (ST#0175 OP#00004463 TE#17 TR#08259), allowing me only one of each item, is rung. "Now, taking the time today to review my receipt, I see where I was overcharged $7.73 as I only purchased ONE Chinet plate but was charged for four. RIDICULOUS - you would think that if this much time was taken by this many employees for the transaction that I would be #1 - satisfied and #2 - accurately charged."
And if any HCWers could tell me where I went wrong - is it more than 10 Q's for transx less than $100?? Because, we all know that our Wal-Mart stores have no idea what the policies are! |

| WWAWWD? What Would a Walmart Worker Do? Walmart Says it Doesn't Accept Internet Printed Coupons - Say What? You Have Them on Your Own Website! Hi everyone. That was the scenario yesterday. I spent time, got papercuts clipping, sorting, matching (you know the drill). I got to Walmart and the cashier said "we don't accept internet printed coupons anymore". So I asked "since when?". She replied "oh I don't know, for a while". So I left. I just figured, I will spend my money elsewhere, if I cause a scene it will be harder the next time I go there ( if and when).
I will be calling corporate to let them know that they wasted my time and money, and that I won't be shopping there until they have a clear and consistent policy that I can rely upon. Otherwise, its just too time consuming and I would rather deal with "postal" Target employees given the smoking deals they have had lately (enough cereal to last a year anyone?).

| re: Walmart: Read before posting vent or complaint ~ 2009 - 2010 What's up everyone. I'm slightly new to couponing — my wife has been the house couponer for years, but with her in grad school, I've taken over. Today I went by myself for the first time, and while I got some great hauls at Target and Publix, Wal-Mart was a big roadblock. For your information and entertainment, I present the letter I just sent to corporate customer service detailing what happened.
"Hi,
I'm writing because I'm concerned about my experience at Wal-Mart store #1408 this evening. I was using a number of coupons — 39, exactly — and as a frequent coupon user (these are difficult economic times), I'm well-versed in your company's policies and limitations on their use. I'm afraid, however, that the management on duty this evening was not.
As it happens when using either 40 coupons or coupons yielding over $50 in savings, the register where I was checking out required a manager override. Leontyne, the supervisor, refused to provide it, saying that I was using too many coupons. I informed her of what your policy is and invited her to check for herself, which she did. She pointed out that a manager has the right to decline coupon use when it is attempting to circumvent the rules, while I reminded her that I wasn't breaking any (I was only using one coupon per item, etc). She still refused, apparently thinking that the register requiring an override meant that she had the right to deny it. She retrieved Keith, the assistant manager, to help with the situation (she was becoming flustered and hostile at this point — probably because she could not find any corporate policy to substantiate her claims).
Keith agreed with her that I was “trying to use too many” coupons, and I informed him as well that your policy states no limits — only that a manager override is required at a given point, and that it doesn't state that he has the right to deny it. He then accused me of attempting to buy these items so that I could swindle the store by returning them at full price. Like Leontyne, he demonstrated a lack of understanding of your policy, going so far to say that I was making the store lose money. When I told him that the manufacturer reimburses the store for the coupons (as written on the coupon itself), he refused to believe me. He went on a short tirade about how he had to protect the store, and that as an average American, I had no right or reason to be buying the volume of product I was attempting to purchase (a total of about 50 items).
He told me that it is his right as manager to decline any coupons he wishes, so I asked him to show me this in the policy handbook. After scanning several pages, he was apparently unable to do so, because he slammed the binder shut and told me, in these words, “I don't have to show you anything.” I told him that he could cancel my order and that I would write to customer service, because I know from experience that you are well aware of what your policies are and where they are written. From the way he threw up his arms and stomped off, I got the impression that he was offended by this. I didn't mean anything personal by it, but since what he was saying directly contradicted corporate policy, I thought that this would be the most effective and diplomatic way of solving this problem.
I do so appreciate your store and all that you do. I look forward to going back and being treated with less hostility by managers that are aware of their own store's policies."
Once I have confirmation from corporate that I'm right, I'm going back and making the same exact purchase, and I'm going to make sure that Keith personally turns the key in the register to approve it. |

| re: Walmart: Read before posting vent or complaint ~ 2009 - 2010 Horrible day today at Walmart
First I had a $2 off Hormel Q and a B1G1 Free Q. Without even trying to ring them the cashier tells me I have to have 4 hormels to use those 2 Qs. After arguing my case, I finally just told her to keep the HOrmel, I would buy them elsewhere.
Then she wouldn't let my use my Any Size tides. She calls a CSM and they CSM tells me that P&G meant for those coupons to be used on full size tide and not trial size. I calmly point out that it does not say "excluding trial size" on the coupon but it was a no-go. Then another cashier being nosy pull my 2 J&J travel first aid kits out and says I can't use thoses coupons.
I would have called a manager, but I work for WM so its not worth losing my job over
I finally got frustrated, pulled everything out of my reusable shopping bag and told them they could keep it. I could spend my money elsewhere.
It really ticks me off b/c I work for the store and I like spending money there b/c it goes towards our bonus, but if they are going to treat me like that then I can and will spend my money elsewhere.
After we left there I went to Bi-Lo and I got great service and 20 free boxes/bags of free dog and cat treats! I'm taking most of them to a rescue tomorrow.

| re: Walmart: Read before posting vent or complaint ~ 2009 - 2010 I must walk around with a "I'm a couponer for life" sign on my forehead because everytime I walk in there is always a stink about coupons. Last week was by far the worst.
On the $4.00 off 2 mylanta coupons it states not on trial size so it beeped they said it has to be what the picture has on the coupon. There were others to that because they beeped and were under the price they would not accept them. So I went to the front desk the manager came over hoopla ...hoopla then have been there for a very long time then she told me same thing then she took back to talk to someone and they said they can't do it but only this time but if I use them again I can't use them coupons.
OMG...I said do you teach your cashiers about coupons? She just stared.
Sorry had to vent.....
