In price-match situations, it is ultimately up to the management to select what items and other stores they will match. My store will match Big Lots, but the one the next town over will not, per the store managers.

When I questioned this, I was told by corporate that each store sets their own policies based off the guidelines posted on Walmart's website. The person at Corporate was adamant that the listed information on the corporate website was only GUIDELINES, not complete policy, so that store managers can adjust their store's policy to fit their needs.

I had the same problem at Target as well .. I was told that since Big Lots is a warehouse store :shrug7: they wouldn't match it.

My Target only would match 5 local stores in my area .. I was so pissed .

but I was able to get the price match at Walmart without any problems .. but I HATE shopping at Walmart .. but was happy to get cheap detergent.

I've done this deal several times at Wal-Mart and 3 of those times, they price matched with a button that rang it up as 2 for $5... Just saying...
Of course, at my Wal-Mart it definitely depends on the manager on duty and the cashier you get as to weather they will price match big lots.

I know a store in northern michigan price matched with the printed page from the internet.. my store here in central mi price matced with the big lots ad. no problem and I got 3 of them.. but i did wonder if i would need an even quantity.. now if only my 20 coupons come tomorrow in the mail I will be all set.. sorry you are having so much trouble.. crazy competition these days.
This was my Walmart Thanks Robin

The nearest Big Lots is 45 minutes from me and I was not about to drive there and pick up an ad.

I simply printed it out online and took it in, and explained to the CSM that I didn't have the actual ad but I had printed it out from online (I showed it too him) and that is had the dates on it.

He said it was o.k. I've done this before with another ad as well. My Walmart is pretty flexible and very rural.

BUT....while I was talking to him, he too said they could not PM "2 fors" meaning 2 for $5....I said, uh that is 2.50 and he said o.k. they'd do it.

    WEIRD. Lol.

I feel your pain. I just went to 2 diffrent Walmarts and got diffrent reasons why they wont price match. The first one said if they price matched the price I couldn't use my coupons. I am sooooooooo mad. I ordered all these extra coupons and cant use any. I went to Target and got the same stupidity from them. I have called corporate on Target and emailed as well. I have also sent an email to Walmart. I don't know if it will help.

    The BigLots ad says 2/$5.

WalMarts says they do not price match like that, it has to specifically state the price. I went round and round telling them 2/$5 is the same as $2.50. But they said thats their policy, period. I even got the cashier mgr and store mgr.

What a pile of BS is that?!

Is this addressed in any printed policies I could take back to the store?

I had the same thing happen...but at Target!!! So...I went just down the street to Walmart and checked in with customer service first to ask. "Sure, no problem." The cashier even complimented me on my smart shopping when I was done.

It's so crazy how each store has their own set of rules!

How is 2/$5 not 'specifically stating the price?' The only way it wouldn't be is if you got some managers who can't do simple division >.<
haha! That's exactly what I was thinking. Since when is 2/$5 not the same as $2.50 each?????????? wow.

I just don't understand why people get so upset when a store will not price match certain stores. My favorite SWM quit doing all $1.00 stores and Big Lots was included. Why??? The Mgr said that most of the products discontined products or discontinued product design and they don't carry that particular product. That reason is pretty much true, espcially with Big Lots. Almost everything they sell, if not everything, is a close out item they bought at an auction or a brand closeout from a retailer/manufacturer. You can't blame Walmarts since it technically not the same product which price matching has to be. Now, I agree that if a product is 2for $5 that one is $2.50. If they don't pm that then buy 2 and be done with it. One csm told me that one of the reasons they don't accept a lot of coupons, competitors coupons and or IP is because they can't please everybody and they just get tired of the hazzles from customers that think everything they buy should be discounted etc etc. so they just ran off most of the couponers and are happy about it. All this complaining is going to backfire someday, just watch and see. Another CSM, from another SWM told me to check with them before using IP coupons because of the fake ones circulating, or might be circulating around. They are thinking about not accepting IP's at all but will probably want to see all ip's, to check against their list, before running the coupon through.
