Aw I'm sorry that's horrible. I hope you're able to find another reasonable way to get gifts for your family
I get so mad a this time of year especially this year I loved the layaway plan that they used to have and now it is gone I know it has been a few years that they haven't had it but this year it seems we need it worst then ever with the economy like it is. I saw that K Mart has a layaway plan this year but they are a long ways from me to even go there and do it especially when I have a walmart right around the corner from me. Sry just had to vent because the closer it gets to Christmas the more I get mad and I love this Holiday it is my favorite time of the year.

I am sorry for your difficulties. what we do is put a few bucks ever week or month on a walmart reloadable gift card. then we have the money at christmas we need already set aside
I do believe that Walmart will regret their decision not to start offering their layaway plan this year.

Yeah, I miss the WM layaway. We used it every Christmas. We would start it sometime in October. If things were tight, it gave us plenty of time to save up. Plus, we could keep the presents at WM until the week before Christmas so that the kids couldn't get into them.
Some years we have put money on a reloadable WM gift card also. This year we got a $50 Simon Mall gift card from our bank rewards program and have decided to give these to the kids instead of WM gc. They are basically a prepaid Visa without the fees. They can be used at any store that takes Visa, not just WM. We will give the one from the bank to one child and will get two more so that all 3 kids will get one.
I miss the layaway at Walmart too, it was so much easier than trying to find places around the house to hide the presents. We just don't have much room!
I hope they do come to regret it. I actually got all of my Christmas shopping done this year without buying a single present from Walmart, and I used to drop at least $500-$800 there for gifts.![]()
Oh yeah good ole layaway!!! That was awesome. I don't think that walmart will be feeling bad for taking it. They already know that with their prices that is where people will go.
I was very poor as a child and my mother used to buy almost everything for us on layaway b/c she did nto have credit. I didn't even know that any stores still had it. I wonder with the current economy if it will come back in vogue.
I doubt Walmart will regret anything - there sales are still high even in the depressed economy and they are projected to do very well this holiday season.
Two of my sisters did their kids Christmas gifts on Layaway at Wallyworld.....one thought it was just great.
The other, discovered that the big gift item, which she had on layaway, was sold to somebody else.
Good luck with your Christmas hunting for gifts.
I sent the following message to the corporate office...........can't hurt!
First, may I say how much I appreciate WalMart working to provide merchandise that is affordable.
With the economy in the toilet, and many Americans struggling to make our mortgages and putting food on our tables while the government bails out mismanaged and failing companies such as AIG and GM, please consider helping to bail out the holiday season by bringing back Layaway!
Thank you for your consideration.
