I have worked at Wal-Mart and I have been a CSM. They only get reimbursed for what they accept. What I mean is if they push through a $5 Zantac coupon, yes they will get reimbursed the $5. However, if they adjust the coupon down, Which is what they are suppose to do, tehn they should write on it what they adjusted it down to. So If they adjust any coupon you should make them write on it. Sometimes the cash office will find this and figure it out if they don't write on it. They also have to prove that they sold these items that the coupons are for. So if you use a coupon for the wrong item and a cashier pushes it through then they are out that money. Unless someone else buys it without a coupon, which will happen.
Trust me I like overage also, but you should not get upset if the cashier does thier job. I just try to go to the cashiers that know any better.
