    Thanksgiving Re: vicks cough drops

Bummer, for the first time ever, my Walgreens would not let me use a $1.00/1 coupon for something selling for $0.99.

In the past the store clerk would just adjust the coupon down so I wouldn't get an overage.

The manager was very nice and apologetic in denying my coupon. He has always helped me in the past. But he said the company is tightening up the rules for coupons since there has been such an increase in couponing.

I was looking forward to free vicks cough drops.

These are the best cough drops, the cherry ones are good. They are really hard to find though. I only see them once in awhile at walgreens and sometimes at the military px.

    Deal Re: vicks cough drops

I just had 6 coupons so I bought 7 cough drops--no problem (no beeps). Now you can buy cough drops and use the $1 off coupons and use the buy 2 Vicks products, get Puffs free coupon! I am out of the $1/1 coupons but if you have them just buy 3 cough drops, use two $1/1 coupons and 1 coupon for free Puffs. The cough drops sell for .99 or 2 for $1.79.

A nice where I live the cough drops are priced higher individually - I think 1.29 per, BUT, if you get 2 - it's 2/$2 sooo, no overage. Cuz I really really hate it when they have to do a Q-scan down ...

I was able to get -
    (4) Vicks Cough Drops @ 2/$2
    (2) Puffs @ 2/$3 (had to price.match the Big Ad; it wasn't in my Small Ad this week)
    Total: $7.
Used: (4) $1/1 Vicks and (2) Free Puffs wyb (2) Vicks
    Total: 0 + tax .60.

But an ughhh today... SM looked into it, and he told me, the cough drops are being discontinued. As well - he looked @ the entire district, hardly any store had them ughhh, cuz the deal would end tomorrow (Q expires tomorrow )... This info saves me from running around for these then again, I'd really really wanted more free Puffs

In my area they only sell the cough drops seasonally so one store got them in like Oct. and another in Nov. and they sell til they are gone and that's it until next cold/flu season next fall. So if another coupon comes out just keep your eye out by the front registers.

They were hiding the Vicks cough drops behind the counter here a couple months ago and refused to sell them! I spent more than $100 there that week on non-RR items -- two or three trips to the store -- but the manager treated me like dirt so I haven't set foot in a Walgreen's since. Really sad, because I liked the store and the manager, until he started to treat customers who had been loyal for years like criminals. I realize that television program has caused problems, but why treat everyone who uses a coupon like the enemy? I had given up on trying to get most RR items months before, since they were rarely in stock.
Got tired of having to answer for everything I bought there anyway. If you buy more than one -- even non-sale items -- you're often given a lecture on "extreme couponing" and questioned about why you need so many. Our stores didn't have the Nescafe coffee singles when the RR was going, but DH loves instant for work. They only come 5 cups to a box, aren't on sale and don't have a RR any longer. Why do I have to explain when I purchase four boxes in one shopping trip?

A SM did ask me the other day - what I was gonna do with some of my stuff !?!!? I told him - I now mainly only get what I want @ Wags, and will find home's for the things I don't want - ie the peeps @ the Post Office, they've gotten some pain relief items that I have a gazillion of they love it... Or, with the Vicks I was able to find - gonna give to my SIL, and well - my end goal had been the Puffs But uhhh - the SM I deal with - he's really okay with me treating his location like a Costco
