    SAD SOOOO confused.....

    Sorry this is long.

    I made a quick trip to Walgreens this afternoon to pick up a couple items. I had planned 2 transactions. The first was a Gillette Proglide Razor, and one bottle of Pert Plus. No biggie, so I thought. I pulled out my coupons ($4 for the razor and $1 for the Pert) and immediately the cashier told me she could not use the Pert Q. I looked at the coupon, not expired, right item, so I asked why. She said, If I use the coupon, it will not print out your register rewards. I said has your store coupon policy changed? No, she said. "We will not take a coupon over the price of an item." I said "adjust the coupon amount down."

    "Well, that would mean you will get the item for nothing. And we do not adjust the amount of the coupon down. ...never have. And, your register rewards will not print."

    I said, "You guys have done it before. I have never had a problem before. Has the coupon policy changed. The manufacturer will reimburse for the full amount of the coupon regardless of what the final cost of the item is."

    Back and forth we went. I have dealt with her before. She has always been nice to me and very accommodating of my couponing. So, I respectfully stood my ground. She called a manager.

    He looked irritated when he came up. The cashier explained what was going on. The manager said, "We have never taken coupons for the full amount of an item. We do not get reimbursed if we do that."

    So......I reach into my binder and pull out my copy of the WAG coupon policy.

    I said, "Walgreen's coupon policy does not say they will not take a coupon for more than the listed price. But it does say that the coupon will be adjusted down so not to be more than the sale price."

    He said, "That’s news to me."

    Once again I asked if the policy had changed. They did not answer. He huffed and puffed and said that he would do a favor for me this once and accommodate me, but they would not be able to take coupons that are for more than the price of an item, even $0.01. AND if they take a manufacturer coupon, register rewards will not print.

    My plans were to purchase:

    Transaction 1
    1 Gillette Fusion Proglide razor $9.99 - $4.00 MQ,
    1 Pert Plus 2 in 1 $3.99 - $1.00 MQ
    $8.98 oop
    Get back $4.00 and $3.00 register rewards.

    Transaction 2
    1 Playtex Gentle Glide 360 Tampons $7.49 - $2.00 MQ
    Use $4.00 Register Reward
    $1.49 oop
    Get back $3.00 register rewards.

    After all the scanning, adjusting, mucking around with the transactions, I only got one $3.00 register reward back for the tampons. And, I was so flustered I did not notice until I got to my car and had a chance to go over the receipts.

    I am SOOOOOO confused. I have went back and checked Walgreens coupon policy. What did I do wrong? I have seen all of the deals I was going for posted elsewhere. It is not like I was trying to scam or con them. ….Although that was how they made me feel.

    HELP!

    I'm sorry but I have no idea what you did wrong...I pre-ordered 4 Pert Plus for this Wednesday with the same MQ to use and I will personally talk to our Wags mgr, his name is Ryan, he's awesome! I'll even let him read your post on my iPad b/c it seems like you were following every rule possible....I think some stores do seem to be more coupon friendly than others tho. I'll see if I can get some feedback from an expert! ;)

    I think it was the way they probably typed the adjustments in. I have had a Wags tell me before if they take coupons on a RR item the RR will not print. But, the item I bought was an overage with the coupon ( .01c) & they adjusted either the item price or something & it made the RR not print. The clerk had the CSM come and help me get my RR. Or you can call the catlina company & tell them it didn't print.

    You didn't do anything wrong. That manager has no idea what he is talking about. Contact the catalina company to get your Register rewards. Do it today.

    The only time they are to alter a coupon is if your getting overage (and they don't get to count the RR you are getting). So if the item is on sale for 99 cents and your coupon is for $1.00 then they are to mark down the coupon to .99 cents (even though they still get the ful $1.00 back!). They don't get to count your future possible register reward as payment for your current purchase.

    Idiots.

    I had a similar problem today at my store with the Revlon nail polish. My coupon kept beeping & the cashier told me I couldn't use it because I was getting a RR. I told her I had used qs before with RR items, but she was adamant, I hate confrontation so I just gave up. :/

    Good crap show them there own stinking ad that shows that you can do it. I want to cyber smack them for you!!

    And yup..ask me the last time I have been to WAGS.....

    mine takes it but always has to get approved by the store manager to adjust the coupon and my RR's have printed so not sure what's going on with that and How rude I would also call corp. and tell them you will quit shopping there if this continues, you are still paying for something anyways so what is the big deal??

    Unless the coupon gives you overage (regardless of whether your purchase is gonna spit out a RR or not) they should never ever ever adjust your coupons.

    If they are adjusting your coupons because of the RR that is being anticipated they are doing it so wrong it's not even funny!

    The revlon coupons the walgreens one and the manufacturer one both beeped on the nailpolish I have no clue why and neither did the cashier so they just had to manually put in the Q for them - These were a nice money maker if you used both coupons on your nail polish making your out of pocket only 99 cents and then you got back a $3 RR - I decided to use mine seperatly and to get many bottles of nailpolish thru out the week if its gets closer to the end of the week then I will just double the coupons together to get the overage otherwise i want like 20 bottles of nailpolish (buying from 5 different stores so really only buying like 4 bottles each store
