Another downside is when a bargain is not a bargain ...

Something that is out-of-stock (and unavailable) nullifies that idea / thought of it being a bargain.

Walgreens has a reputation for not have enough of their advertised bargains in stock thoughout the sale week.

    I totally agree.

    • Paying TAX on freebies adds up
    • Buying things I will never use adds CLUTTER to my life. I found out at the height of my Wagging that I didn't know what to do with half the stuff I'd come home with - SlimQuick drinks, homeopathic stuff - no one else wanted it either! So if I can't use, and can't donate, I don't buy.
    • STRESS and TIME it takes to find a deal to roll week after week after week.... not worth it!

So now I only go when I really need an item. Or if it's a big MM. Tonight I went and got the Acai Berry and with the overage I bought trash bags that are BOGO. Used a RR and left the store free of RR!

OK, good tips. The top one I am hearing is

DON'T BUY WHAT YOU DON'T NEED

Which was my #1 way of saving money even before I started using coupons and just makes sense. So today I went and used some of my overage for toilet paper. It wasn't as "cheap" as toilet paper I would have bought, but then the overage bought it too so it was cheap. And we are "almost out" of toilet paper (only one big pack left in the closet).

I think overall this week I've spent about $35 at WAG OOP. I've gotten 10 of the Omega Factor 3, 3 Childrens Oscillicoccinum which I will try, I've never used it before, but cold and flu remedy is always a good idea, 7 Salon Pas patches, Kraft Cheese slices, a gift for my niece, 2 packs of TP, 3 packs of gum, some candy, Christmas gift tags, 2 cases of water, and some other sundry grocery items, most of which we will use. The 10 bottles of Omega Factor 3 would have cost me about $25 (for a cheaper brand, with a good coupon deal at another store). So I feel like I did okay. I was just wondering if there were any tricks I didn't know.

Tax kills here as well so I have been doing alot less at walgreens. I took my 2 10rr from last week and because they were out of everything but the Omega and 2 biore, and 2 natrol I used the quilted northern as my "overage" from omega 3/1 coupon and natrol and ended up after 3 transactions spending 9.54 cash and 18 rr. I have 3 packs of northern, 2 biore cleansers, 4 vicks cough drops, 2 natrol, 2 omega, 2 packs of the free vitamins, 4 packs of pencils, 1 finesse, 1 nivea shave gel. I felt better when I got home instead of wasting money on the fillers and weird free stuff everything is something we will use. I plan on doing this from now on and I might not have a lot of RR but hopefully my tp stash will grow.

I always always check the ads and look at stuff i need/use. With my son in kindergarden i def picked up the oscillum(sp) day after they went back he came home with germs! And now has an ear infection! Like im not gonna buy poise because it produces rr's or is a MM because well i have no use for them! I no longer try and pick up mens deodorant either. I have tons and my hubby rarely uses it! Noticed this week with the stock the finish was GONE. She gave me a raincheck though but just for the sale price no RR included. First raincheck ive ever gotten at wags so not sure if they can include the RR on the raincheck or not. I think its better to spend a lil bit more OOP on stuff you will use then spend less on total garbage basically. I ended up using up a RR on soda in fla. I was gonna try and roll it into something else but couldnt figure out anything worth using it on that was on sale and since we drink soda at my parents i just used it towards that and got the soda much cheaper then paying $6 a 12 pk at some places!

same here. Have to pay tax on pre-coupon amount. after 2 & 1/2 years of couponing/stockpiling, I only find myself shopping WAGS if it's stuff I DO really need/want. Otherwise, I get angry when I leave the store paying quite a bit of money just trying to roll RRs. In the end it has not been worth it for me. I end up spending so much $$ and think to myself that I just could have kept that money in my wallet.

I did shop WAGS this week, but for stuff I knew I was going to spend money on later down the road (fish oil). So I went ahead and spent a bunch OOP because I knew it was better to get RRs back, than nothing.

I only buy RR items I don't need if they are money makers. So first, I figure out the overage amount. Then I figure out the tax and add .35. IF the overage is more then the tax + .35 I buy the item. If not, I don't.
