So are they no longer accepting a mfr coupon with a store coupon or is it just because it would have been an overage? It looks like it picked and chose to accept the coupon for the lesser amount.
Yesterday I noticed that the Wag in Gurnee, IL, had new cash registers, with a monitor screen so customers can see easily see what they are purchasing.
But here’s the problem…. I tried to purchase a 22 pack of Carefree, for $1.59 (full price), minus $1 manuf coupon, minus Wag coupon (to make the item $0.99), which should have resulted in -$0.01. Normally this would ring on the receipt as 3 lines:
carefree 1.59
-1.00 MFGC
-0.60 WAGC
The cashier scanned the manuf coupon with no beeps, but when I gave her the Wag coupon, the price on the monitor changed from $1.59 to $0.99, and the computer kicked out the manuf coupon. I didn’t notice, paid, left, and looked at my receipt and wondered why it didn’t look right.
My receipt read:
carefree 1.59
wag cpn 1 @ 0.99 -0.60
I went back, asked the cashier for my coupon back, and returned the item. I explained to the manager that the computer did not accept my coupon, innocently asked why.... she claimed it was because my item was a ‘trial size’. If that was the case, the computer would have beeped and not accepted the coupon in the first place.
So it looks like I will have to remember to avoid that particular Wag in the future.

I have to assume the overage booted out the manuf coupon. I'll have to give them another try when I find a deal that makes the item free and report back.
These new registers also list specifics for the manuf coupons used. On the same receipt I bought cocoa butter vaseline, and the bottom of the receipt reads 'vas i/care cocoa mfg cpn 1.25' instead of the generic 'mfg coupon'.
A 22 pk is the trial size? Yikes!
Oh, I am so sorry that you had this experience. And for the record, that register doesn't sound smart at all, it can't even add and subtract lol!!!
I wonder if they could have manually entered it with the new registers? Like a generic $1 vendor coupon or whatnot.

I alerady drastically reduced my wags shopping when they got rid of the rebate program....I can imagine that if all the new registers work like this that'll I'll be going there even less.
My cashier mentioned that they were getting the new register system soon....but then again, she also thinks a RR won't print out when using a coupon!

Personally, I don't care what they do to their register system, as long as someone or someTHING makes things consistent from one store to another. I guess instead of coming up with a consistent Q policy, they're going to let the registers do the deciding?Doesn't matter to me WHO decides, as long as it's the same 24/7/365.
We'll all be glad to work within their guidelines/policy, IF they'd just MAKE ONE.

Very true. That is what makes you insane, with the rules changing from store to store, and literally from one cashier to another. It makes it impossible to plan for. I have changed scenarios midstream according to which cashiers are working. I guess that is the advantage of living in a small town. You get to know which cashiers will be helpful, and which ones will not.
