Where is the "Stupid Cashier" forum? Wags rant...

This has GOT to be the winner for stupid cashier of the week/month/year maybe even ever! My total came to 10.26. I handed over a $20, a quarter and a penny. She enters it, gives me my receipt, shuts the drawer and says "thanks ma'am." I say, "But I gave you a $20 I should get $10 back."
She looks at me, looks at the register and says, "The register didn't tell me to give you $10."

OK, this was not a kid. This was a mature woman, maybe in her 50's, who really didn't look stupid. Until she said that.

I repeat. "But I gave you $20.26 and it was only 10.26." She looks blankly at the register again I suppose hoping that it would belatedly tell her what to do. When it doesn't she says, "Uh, well I guess I need to ask a manager."

So we go through the calling the manager who is of course busy with something else and we wait for about 5 or 6 minutes. Then another manager walks in for her shift and heads to the staff room with her coat and coffee in hand. The cashier grabs her and asks her to help. She tells her that "This lady is insisting that she gave me a $20 but I think it was a $10 because she gave me correct change and besides the register didn't pop up with that, you know, thing telling me to give her how much change." (her words).

To the manager's credit she immediately sits down her coat and coffee and starts counting the drawer. She goes and runs the tape (or whatever they do these days) and comes back out and says "She's right you owe her $10." And starts apologizing to me. The cashier looks like she wants to argue with the manager. I could still see it going through her head "but the register didn't tell me to give her $10" as she opens the drawer and gives me $10.

She didn't apologize to me. She just looked at the manager and said, "I'm so tired right now I need to take my break."

I should have known it was going to be trouble when she scanned a coupon and the register didn't beep or anything and she told me that it was the wrong item for the coupon. I asked her if it beeped and gave her a message and she admitted that no it hadn't done anything. I said well try it again, sometimes they just don't scan easily. She did and it worked.

Reminds me of the skit on The Carol Burnette Show about the secretary names Mrs. Zawigins. LMAO. I'll have to see if I can find it on YouTube. I love the one where Mr. Tutball is trying to teach her how to use the office intercom system. She can't figure it out and gets so frustrated that she has to go to lunch.

Lol WOW. Sorry for your troubles. I hate it when cashiers aren't paying attention, because I'm scared they'll do this to me.

I went to WAGs last week for the BOGO diaper deal. Bought 6, my $10 RRs didn't print. So the cashier argue with me for 5 minutes about whether or not I spent enough to qualify. I almost felt like I had to draw her a diagram from 3rd grade showing that $26.97 is indeed MORE THAN (>) $25... (even though I know I was supposed to get $10 off, at that point, I wasn't going to argue for $10, since she OBVIOUSLY wouldn't have gotten it if she couldn't even get that I deserved $5 off after looking at my receipt AND the add like 1800 times.)

So, she says she is going to return them and re-ring them as $5 off. So, she can't figure out how to subtract 5 from $26.97, so she goes and gets a calculator... (which takes a long time). Then, she returns my stuff, rings me up again with the $5 off, and then another $5 RR (JC, whatever) prints and she says she has to keep it b/c I shouldn't have gotten it.

At that point I was fine with getting 6 packs of diapers for $21.97, so I didn't argue the point, but she definitely is not the bright crayon in the WAGs box...

"here's a 20" out loud. they cannot forgot that.
