    HELP can't use RRs

I am so frustrated!! Something went "wrong" today with a transaction and I have no idea what it was. So, after 10 minutes, a clueless manager, and a lady behind me cursing, I told the cashier "I'll just take my coupons back, thank you."
    Here's what I did

    6 products:
    $2.99 softsoap bodywash
    (2) $?? Lindsay olives
    (3) $4.99 Pepto Bismal
subtotal . . . $24 ish (can't remember the price of the olives)

    used 5 Qs and a store Q (which I didn't think counted):
    $0.99 in-ad Lindsay Olive Q
    (3) $0.75 Pepto Qs
    $1/2 Lindsay IP
    $1 softsoap Q

    total: $17ish

THEN I had plenty of RRs from last week to use, starting with a $5 RR from the clio trimmer last week. Which beeps. So I add another product, candy, and it stiill won't go through. The cashier doesn't seem to care, but I ask that she call a manager. Manager is called, he informs me that I had too many coupons. Cancels transaction and starts over. This time he rings up the $5 RR first, and the other Qs, and everything goes through fine. I add another peice of candy so I can add another RR (guess I got too excited) which then beeps. He goes on some rant about "the RR is a manufacture coupon . . . they have restrictions . . . you can't use more than one RR . . . "
By this time there are 5 (ish) people in line behind me and one ofthem is cussing . I took my Qs politely and left.

SO FRUSTRATED because I feel like these RRs are worthless. What is going on? Can anyone help? :shrug7: Thanks if you can!!

rr's count as a manufacturer coupon....now the problem i run into at my store is the x/2 coupon always attaches to two items and then counts as 2 coupons...

but when you added another item, the rr should of gone thru....as long as your total before tax is more than the rr amount

A couple weeks ago I had a store coupon that for whatever reason DID count like a regular coupon, so I'm wondering if that along with the $/2 attaching to both items is what threw you off. The $/2 probably would have gone through if scanned last even if there was only 1 item left to attach itself to. When you added the last candy though it also attached to it. Just a guess, but I've had a similar experience. In my case, I was using the store coupon last so the nice cashier just price adjusted the item instead of scanning the coupon.

The Lindsey olive coupons generally attach to both of the products; many of the $/2 coupons are doing that lately, but I know for sure the Lindsey one does it. Once you added that first piece of candy, you should have been good to go. However, if the cashier didn't hit the total button again after adding the candy, the register would have beeped at her because it doesn't like scanning a coupon while in it's item transaction mode for some reason. My cashier learned this early on and always totals after each RR or added item.

I've also heard from some people on this site that there are some store managers who set their own policy about accepting RR's. I've heard some only accept one per transaction and I've heard that others only accept the RR if there is an item worth more than the value of the RR in your order (ie, you can't have 20-$1 items and try to use a $2 RR on the order). Crazy..I know, but mine is actually pretty easy to deal with.
