Walgreens - $5 RR wont scan!

Tried using a RR today that printed out in red ink for some reason and the cashier could not get it to work. He even tried keying it in and it still wouldnt work! What would you do? I took it back and told him id try again when they werent so busy because I didnt want to hold up the line... I had plenty of items for fillers so it wasnt a numbers issue either! Anyone else run into this before?

A couple of years ago I had a $10 RR that wouldn't scan unless I bought a single item over $10. I had originally tried to use it on a group of products that had a combined price of over $10 and the assistant manager supposedly could not get the computer to take it no matter what he tried.

It really ticked me off as I was forced to find "something" over $10 to use it. So I did and then returned it without a receipt and got my $10 back on a GC.

Red INK?.... the only time i have seen red ink was when the RR machine was running out of ink and to use it they had to over ride it... get a manager involved or call customer service and ask about it...(although my experience has been they seem to just make up something to tell you, i have never had any luck with customer service)

I've had something similar happen. Mine had a red line (or few) mixed in and they couldn't get it to scan. They were able to push it through though. Hope you can get it worked out!

i have had a few print when it was turning red .. low on the ink! and they all had to be hand entered... and if entered right it should take... if not by all means ask for a manager..

At my Wags the make-up dept cat machine always has red in it and they have to key in the numbers. I asked if it needed ink the first time I saw it and they told me that there is something wrong with the printer and even with new ink the red shows up. Since I do almost all of my Wags shopping at that store, and they know how to properly key in the numbers, it is not a bid deal for me.

They can also just key in a generic $5 MQ on the register. I have that happen quite often.

SOOOO Glad to hear it can be fixed! Hopefully he just keyed in a wrong number. He was super nice and all but there was a line starting to form so Im guessing he was just in a rush so I will definitely try again and hopefully the next person can get it to go through. I was afraid that I would be losing $5!

This one was printed at the cosmetics counter... Ive had another printed there since then and it printed fine so im guessing its a low ink thing too!

When this situation occurs the numbers below the barcode needs to be keyed in. If memory serves me correct it is either all of the numbers but the very last number or it is numbers 2-10.

My wags is notorious for letting the ink get so low in the Catalina that scanners can't read the barcode. When I redeem one of those RRs and the scanner can't read it, they usually just manually enter a MQ for the amount (not using the barcode numbers....just $5 MQ for ex).
