Default Walgreens Need opinions on this-product not scanned

I don't know what to do about this. I bought Natrol Acai Saturday afternoon and didn't get the RR for it. Also, my total came to $2.10 instead of $5.xx like I was expecting. Instead of handing over a $5 RR, I handed over a $2 RR instead. And I didn't use the in-ad coupon for Bumble Bee tuna like I had planned because if I did that and tried to grab something else next to the checkout in order to use the $2 RR, my OOP would have been too much. I always aim for an OOP of less than .50. So I paid .10 and went out. I did get the Quaker RR that I bought in the same transaction. I realized I didn't get the Acai RR and went back inside and an assistant manager was called over. She looked at the product and the ad and all she could figure out was the one I bought was in a box and the one in the ad was a bottle without a box, so figured it must have something to do with the UPC being different. She said there wasn't anything she could do about except reseach in the system (something about the products qualifying) and give me a form to mail in. I said no thanks.

So I left and tried to figure it out at home. I added everything up again and couldn't figure it out. Then finally I saw the product wasn't even scanned! It wasn't on the receipt which is why I didn't get the RR. The $3 coupon for Acai was scanned.

I didn't know what to do about this and had no internet yesterday to come here and ask about it. Now the sale is over. Also, I bought 3 Ecotrins in the same transaction. If I brought the receipt back in, I don't wan't them scrutinizing the it since I don't want to lead on to the overage and also because they don't allow the use of more than 1 RR in a transaction, so wouldn't want them thinking I used more than 1. The AM that was called over was the same one called over when I tried to buy Playtex handsaver gloves a few months ago with the $1 coupon and .99 in-ad coupon which resulted in only a penny overage and she didn't approve it. I did buy handsaver gloves from other Walgreens, though. I don't go into this Walgreens very often and try to avoid it.

Does anyone have any opinions on what I should do? Do nothing or go back in? If I did nothing about it, it would be like the Acai was just free. Although I didn't get the $4 RR, I got the benefit of the $3 coupon and I still had the $5 RR that I had planned to use. However, since then I've used the $5 RR and no longer have it although I have other RR's.

I would just leave it as it is, you'll spend forever in there trying to figure it out. Mistakes happen, sometimes in your favor, sometimes they won't be. If you go in and say you bought something and didn't get charged, the odds are the manager would just say, well that was our mistake and have a good day. I HIGHLY doubt they would re ring it up, charge you and then do the RR. Let us know what you decide to do

    IMO take it back.
The promo is over so you won't get the RR, but you didn't pay for it either so no loss no gain.

The final outcome is the same for you, right? Either way:
    Pay 4.00 and get a 4.00 RR and use a 3.00 coupon = 3.00 MM
    Free because it wasn't scanned and a 3.00 coupon = 3.00 MM

For you , it doesn't matter.
For the store, their inventory is messed up. I guess that is your concern, right?
You could take it back with ad in hand, explain that it wasn't scanned, but that it was a FARR item anyway - don't bring your receipt. Just let them figure out how to handle it.
I'm sure they wouldn't make you pay for it, I think they would appreciate that you are trying to keep everything square.

Since I always want them to make it right if they make an error, I want to do the same. One day I had a 52 cent tube of Jane lip stuff. It was so small I missed it at checkout. It fell on the parking lot when I was leaving. I went back in and had them ring it up. Right is right.

I would bring it back, no receipt required. It's the right thing to do, IMO.

that happened to me previously. the next time I shopped, I just explained it to MOD, got them to scan item and I paid for it.

When I am overcharged, they don't give me hassles to make it right so it is but fair for me to pay for an item that I took out of the store.

In OP's case, I'm just wondering how the $3 IP went through if there was no item bought?

I don't know how that happened.

I'm undecided. Seems like it's that's what they might do-maybe ring it up and zero it out so that I don't owe anything and they don't give me anything back. On the other hand, I'm kind of wondering if they'll make me pay for it. If they do, then I have RR's to pay for it but I don't have that many RR's.

the reciept doesn't say what the $3 mfg was for, just that they tendered a $3mfg on your transaction.

They can't make you pay for something you are returning because you didn't get charged for it
