    HELP Walgreens Help! Damaged RRs!

To make a long story short, all my RRs have gotten wrinkled and soaking wet. So right now, I have $155 in RRs laying all over my house separated and drying out. I plan on ironing them in the morning. Has anyone here ever had this happen to them? Does anyone one know what heat setting on my iron I should use or have any other ironing technique advice they can give to me?

Also, the end where the fine print is are slightly damaged on a few of them. Has anyone had experience with that type of damage to their RRs before? If so, was it an issue at the store?

I am dreading having issues with these on Thursday, so any hits or tips will be greatly appreciated.

TIA and believe me, reps will be given!

Start with the lowest heat on the iron. If that isn't enough, go higher. I suspect that you can iron them at the highest setting with no troubles, but when in doubt start low.

As for the fine print, it shouldn't be a problem. As long as it scans I doubt they will care that the rr ever got wet.

Let me guess--all folded up in your pocket and went through the wash?

Be very careful with the iron - first test another area of the RR, other than the barcode, etc. They likely are printed with thermal ink and the heat may ruin them even more.

I was just going to say this. I know that Target receipts/Rainchecks are printed this way and a hot day on the dashboard turns them BLACK and rendered them unreadable. The Walgreen ones that we get here dont seem to be done with the same type of paper though - but Id still recommend caution. Maybe test it with one of those foolish oil change coupons first =0)

Definately do NOT use heat. That is thermal paper/ink...they will turn black really quick if you try that.

Better idea would be to flatten then between heavy books or something else heavy and flat.

My dad is a big stamp collector. Sometimes he gets stamps still on the envelopes and needs to soak off the paper and then dry the stamps with out having them curl. Hopefully the same technique will help out here.

Put the wet RR on newspaper (preferable not colored pages). Cover that with a tea towel. Repeat layers of this ending with the towel layer. If they are really wrinkled it might help to put a book on top of the top towel layer.

    Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about them being wrinkled. As long as you can read the numbers underneath the barcode, a cashier can enter those numbers by hand and the correct $$ amount will be subtracted just as if the scanner read the bar code. Most cashiers know how to do this. If you get one that doesn't, have her call the manager to help.

Never EVER iron paper it can cause a fire. What you should do is put them below a towel or something and iron the towel. The heat will go through it. Also the thermal paper thing is great advice.

Also I agree about the #'s under the bar code. As long as its there it should be ok
    Surprise surprise..

    Baby on board!

I second what GreatFun advised... I'd had issues with a RR being read by the scanner & after 3 tries, I had one of my favorite clerks manually key in the barcode and voila - the amt was subtracted from my total.

Thanks everyone! I ended up just laying them out flat to dry them and then placing them in a book until I used them. They all looked pretty sad, but they worked!
