HELP Walgreens OMG: It Can't Be True!

The Manager Said ALL Walgreens are Reprogramming Their Computers So That Register Rewards Won't Print When You Use Coupons!!!

Has anyone heard this? I found some stores will and some won't print RRs when I used coupons tonight. I am feeling rather blue and hope it isn't true!

I think that stores that are most un-coupon friendly also have the most uninformed managers. I really don't believe what they told you.

If WG tried to pull something like that, they would lose many customers to both RA and CVS who both allow the use of coupons with their in-store rewards (ECBs/SCR).

Also, if a RR doesn't print, it is either because the item doesn't match the offer, or the catalina machine is down/ messed up in some way.

The programming is the same for all WG stores but some stores seem to have more issues. One store can't decide to change the programming of their machines, they are all one system. At least, that is my understanding.

So when they say something like that, just smile and say, "Oh dear, that would be a shame." And go on your happy way. I really don't see it happening.

(Hope I don't have ever have to eat my words .....)

That manager is an idiot. Walgreens repeatedly has ads where they advertise RRs and in the same picture, say "look for coupons in most Sunday papers."

I agree! And it's not like they're doubling those coupons. Remember they get the money from the coupon whether is an RR or not.

Way back in April '09, an AM told me WAG smart registers are coming. For returns w/o receipts, the register will show the lowest price the item went on sale and that is what is going to be put on store credit. Its now October, I don't think the registers have become smarter I was also told the register will be able to detect if one person is doing back 2 back 2 back transactions to get multiple RRs and the register will block it. I had to chuckle on that one but I didn't want to embarrass the AM.

Thanks for info OP but for now, I'll take it with a grain of salt for now. I'll believe it when it happens. Meanwhile, I'll keep on shopping.

Come to think of it, the manager said I was welcome to drive around to other stores to see if it was true for all stores, but it wasn't. So perhaps its just these 2 stores, a bummer, but given the dozens near me I don't think it will put a dent in my new Walgreens addiction.

The manager also said that "too many people" were using manufacturer's coupons and register rewards. What? Doesn't that translate into more $$$ for Walgreens? And that's a BAD thing? I guess I just won't be shopping at the Walgreens stores who try to even try to stop my coupon/RR addiction!
