    QUESTION Walgreens It's been awhile - refresh me on the RR ins-and-outs

    I haven't been to Wags in a looong time. I ditched them when they stopped the rebate program. And I didn't have the time to devote to messing with the RR's each week.

    But, I have a couple gcs from the Coke rewards and this weeks has some sweet RR deals w/matched coupons so the $$-profit has me coming back LOL

    So refresh me....did I remember these rules right?

    can't roll an RR into another of the same deal nor into the same Mfr even if its diff deal. I know I've heard if the amount is diff it might work but don't want to chance it

    CAN get mult RRs in 1 trans as long as they are diff deals (will still get both if there are 2 diff deals even when its the same mfr)

    I know the RR/mfr cpn count needs to match # of items - fillers etc.

    So as far as I can tell this week, the only things that are the same Mfr to beware of are:

    Chapstick and Robitussin are both WYETH

    Herbal Essence and Oral-B are both P&G

    ...right?? Everything else is fair game?

    Here is my plan....btw - the Theraflu isn't in my ad so I'm skipping that one. Also skipping Fusion as i used the cpns at Rite aid.
    Do you see any flaws that will prevent RRs ?? Aside from running into a store that claims 1 rr per trans (never had that prob b4).

    TRAN 1
    Rob2Go 2.49-2cpn (i have some old ones say good on any)
    OralB 3-1cpn
    HE 2.99-1cpn
    Halls 1-75c cpn
    = 4.73+tx oop
    earn -> 3, 2.50, 2, 1

    TRAN 2
    EmergenC 3.49
    Dentek 2-1cpn
    1 filler
    = 4.49+filler+tx oop <- pay w/2.50 Rob & 2 HE RRs
    earn -> 3.50, 2

    TRAN 3
    Chapstick 2.99
    Vaseline 6.99-1.50cpn
    2 fillers
    = 8.48+fillers+tx oop <- pay w/3.50 emergenC, 3 oralB, 2 dentek RRs
    earn -> 7, 3

    So I end with 7 vaseline, 3 chapstick, 1 halls RRs remaining and around $5 oop paid on the gc.
    Then was considering continuing as follows to get 2nds of everything....

    TRAN 4
    oralB 3-1cpn
    HE 2.99-1cpn
    2 fillers
    = 3.99+fillers+tx <- pay w/3 chapstick & 1 halls rrs
    earn -> 3, 2

    TRAN 5
    Rob2Go 2.49-2cpn
    Halls 1-75c cpn
    Chapstick 2.99
    EmergenC 3.49
    =7.22 <- pay w/7 vaseline rr
    earn -> 3.50, 3, 2.50, 1

    TRAN 6
    Dentek 2-1cpn
    Vaseline 6.99-1.50cpn
    2 fillers
    = 6.49 <- pay w/3.50 EmergenC, 3 chapstick rrs
    earn -> 7, 2

    So in total I end with 17.50 (7 vaseline, 2 dentek, 3 oralb, 2 he, 2.50 rob, 1 halls) and maybe $6 oop paid on gc overall.

    The Chapstick to the Robi should work, but if you don't want to chance it, don't!

    One of the important rules to remember this week is that P&G RRs have a special note that says "Not to be used on P&G products". Why P&G wants to pay us to buy other company's products is beyond me, but that is the rule. So, if you do decide to risk using RRs on other products from the same company, it is against the RRs rules to use it on P&G.

    Yep, I started off Sunday buying on of every free after RR item in the ad. (I had a bunch of $6 RRs to use.) I got RRs for every product but the Oral B, but that was only because there was a problem at the Catalina company level that has since been fixed.

    I did not check the math on your transactions, but the coupon/RR usage looked good to me. Just make sure that your fillers make the total of your transaction equal or exceed the RR total that you are paying with. For example, if your total is $7.98 before tax, Wags won't adjust the RR down to let you pay with an $8 RR.

    Wait, you had to do 6 transactions in order to get all of the RR's? I'm just about to give up on Walgreens...

    Doing 6 transactions for all those RRs is actually pretty good, lol :) The RRs are NOT from Walgreens, they are a MANUFACTURER paid coupon, good only at Walgreens (sort of like the coupons that come out in the Sunday papers good only at Target, etc), except that these can be used like CASH. To me, that makes it wonderful!! I have been known to have up to 11 transactions on a good week's sales flyer ... and still don't regret one minute spent doing them. Something to remember when doing multiple transactions -- be considerate of those behind you. If you know you are going to be doing this, either wait for a 'slower' time to check out, or let others go before you in the middle of your multiple transactions. When I do my 'multiples', it usually only takes a minute or two for each, but that still adds up.

    By doing it this way, it is not unusual for Walgreens to be paying ME to shop there (through the RRs / MFQs usage), where I end up going home with more in RRs than I paid out in cash to start with. So, don't be discouraged by what you have to do to make the RRs work for you, or by Walgreens. Personally, I'm glad that they DO work with the manufacturers to get us the RRs, and that we don't have to send away a rebate form or anything else to get them.
