Walgreens: I was told "this is your warning! this will be the last transaction because you are stealling from the company! And we are banning people from the store who do multiple transactions"

OK so I went in to do my deals at the Martinsburg, WV location. (are there other people on here that shop there?)

Of course I had my plan all figured out & of course they don't have the lotion so it throws me off. I look around for things to fill in the gap & deside if I want to do the 4 transactions I had planed on doing. Well anyways I refigured it out & headed to the front to do 4 transactions. I had the cashier ring up the 1 transaction & the amount didn't jive with what I had figured it to be so I said I'd reveiw my receipt while he rang other customers up. I forgot I had picked up the .99 activity book at the register & that was what threw me off. I allowed at least 5 or 6 customers to go before me so I didn't hold the line up. I go to do the 2nd transaction & that is when he tells me "this is your warning! You will not be allowed to do anymore transactions because you are stealing from the company" I said your kidding right?? He said no & if you want to continue we'll ban you from the store. I said what?? I said you all give us the register rewards for buying stuff & I'm paying with coupons as well as cash & RR. He said yea but your munipulating the system to get stuff for free & the loss prevention guy & the district manager was just here & had a big meeting & this is what is being inforced & we were told to ban people from the store who did this. And your being a theif for doing this. I stood there in shock...I said well just forget it I won't buy this stuff. He kept ringing up the 2nd transaction & gave me my RR. So I just pulled the cart to the side & told him that they could put it away then. (I didn't get smart or anything...just kept my cool through the whole thing.)

I'm totally in shock...I was just in there Sunday to do the deals & my favorite manager was in there & he knows exactly what I do & never said a word. They didn't have the toothpaste in stock & told me to come back today. He wasn't working tonight so I just walked out & don't know if I should call him tomorrow & question this or call corporate?

The only thing I'm thinking is...if this is true & I want to make multiple transactions I'll have to go several different times of the day through out the week. They can't stop me from doing that...right? They can't ban me from the store for doing it that way can they?? :shrug7:

I hate vigilante cashiers! I would definitely talk to the manager that you know and see if this is going to continue happening. If it is I would go to a different Wags. Do you have another one you can go to?

I've got 2 other stores but just not as close. I usually go to Winchester VA to shop CVS & there is 1 there that I always forget about & there is another store in Stephen City, VA...just further up the road. Stephen City is the store my sister shops at & never has issues. I've got her addicted to coupon shopping now & she's always needing my help so maybe I'll just have to go up there & shop with her.

I swear to you im boiling reading this! If it were me I would call up the Manager you know and tell him how that all went down. For a cashier to tell you your “Stealing” is about ridiculous. I would try my best to let him know how degrading he made you feel about using coupons and getting the RR’s that “Walgreens” puts out for us “Customers” to use. We are like all the other customers, but much smarter with our money. Cashiers like this make me want to puke with their unintelligence with coupons and RR’s. They think that coupons are just something we rip off stores with. Really if they had a dang clue they would understand it’s a form of payment that the store gets once they send it in. All in all I would call and have a huge complaint about the lousy cashier that literally ran you out of the store. We couponers should never ever have to feel like we are doing something wrong or even like we are “Stealing!” I would have told the cashier if he knew what “Loss prevention” meant…. No where in the dictionary meaning or in the fine print is the word “Coupon” involved. Then I think I would have had some fun with it and asked him to watch you take something out of your purse (We will say lotion) and then tell him “Here’s two scenario’s: A. Ok, lets pretend this is the stores lotion, im putting it in my purse and walking out….not paying for it at all with coupons or anything. The next one is B. Im giving you the lotion to ring up and im going to give you a RR and a coupon to make my total .29cents. I give you .29cents and I get another RR and a receipt that says Thank you for shopping with Walgreens bla bla bla. Now since your so very intelligent and you know the word Loss prevention and Stealing means, what scenario was the one that pertains to those two words?” So I would put it right back on him the minute he spewed all that crap out at you. I swear there has been many times that a cashier thinks they know how a coupon works and really they have zero clue. I try and know everything and read anything. I can honestly say im 100% right all the time. This cashier needs to be down graded to stocking shelves for treating you like that. Plus walgreens is always low on stock so it will help us all out lol

another thing. I would tell him next time your in that he should be the store security guy. Since he thinks hes all tuff at the register. This way he can catch the ppl actually stealing stuff and not PAYING for anything. Maybe this is why the store is never stocked, PPl are just walking out with everything.

I feel for you, right after i started doing the coupon thing i had a run in with a walgreens manager that accused me of coupon fraud.. I felt cheap and hurt and i wasnt doing anything wrong.. i emailed corp, and they did nothing.. There is no customer service at walgreens..

As far as banning you from the store, he cannt do that, they would have to take you to court and the court would have to issue an order forbidding you from going in the store..

I just dont understand why anyone shops at walgreens

they can ban you from the store with a court order......unless the law is different where you live.

I would contact the manger and I would also go to the walgreens website and email them on this matter and see what they have to say about the matter..for I had a write up about using RR and multi tranactions before and it they said I could do them without even leaving the store but they could have changed the rules on that and if they have they will let you know in a return email. I would make sure I let them know just what store it was that told you about these new so called rules..and ask if this was a one store rule or is all stores doing this now..

I got free bic pens last weekens and did not even have to pay the taxes due to a no tax weekend, all I got was 10 packs of pens and no one told me I was stealing.

This is so extremely ridiculous! Managers need to be informed and to then inform all cashiers and personnel working that the store makes MORE MONEY off couponers than reg people. They get paid a handling fee and this needs to be explained to them. Stores love it when we use coupons (unelss they are misinformed) bc of this fact.
So if I buy something that costs $1.00. Then the store gets $1.00. If I use a $1.00 off coupon the store gets $1.08.
