If true, that seems wasteful and illogical, that "any" returned food item has to be discarded, even if it's still new and factory-sealed. I could understand for easily perishable food items like meat, fish, dairy, produce, or food items where it's not clear that it's still factory-sealed... but an item like jam, when it would be clear that it hasn't been opened yet and, presumably, is still within the "best until" or "fresh by" date?
Is this accurate what couponcrazy5950 posted? Do all stores or does Walgreens specifically have to discard "any" food item that gets returned?
