Walgreens Pilot G2 Pens RR - "Bold Point" isn't producing RR

Heads up on the Pilot Pens that are Free after RR:

There are several different colors/types that are supposed to work for the RR. HOWEVER, the "bold point" packages are NOT producing the RR.

Here's the UPC for the one that didn't work for me today:

0 72838 31250 1

I also purchased three different colors of the "fine point" variety and they all produced the RR.

So, if you don't really care about the size of the pen point and you want to avoid the hassle, don't get the "bold point".

Thanks for posting the ones that worked. I got one today and it didn't print the RR. I looked at it for about 5 minutes and matched it to the one in the ad (black) and the manager looked at it too. I will just go back and get a different one now.

Well that explains why my RR didn't print. Guess I have to exchange mine.

Thanks for the post! I was successful with a fine point red pen earlier in the day and was perplexed when the bold black would not produce the RR but now I see. Thanks Wags for making a simple purchase so incredibly complicated.

Yep. I did this at 2 WG stores today. First store it didn't work, cashier right away told me to go to beauty counter where they re-rang it for free.
2nd store it didn't print, cashier just handed me the paper with the form to send in for a missing RR. I told her I didn't want to spend .44 to get a 1.00 coupon back, so she called the mgr over, who just picked up a pk of red pens conveniently placed right by the register and rang those up instead.

Mine didn't print, either. The clerk decided it wasn't worth checking to see if perhaps the catalina machine needed paper. Guess what? It did. Guess what? Didn't make a lick of difference. Grrrr..

The manager was very nice about it. As he grumbled while refunding my money, we both agreed the EasySaver program was sorely missed.

I read this thread before heading to Wags today but was so eager when I got there - there was only ONE lonely pack of pens left and I didn't bother to read fine/bold. At the register the manager said 'I don't know why but these haven't been printing the RR so I'm going to do an adjustment and make them free.
No RR to deal with expiring.
