I think it varies depending on the child. I have gone through a lot of Desitin with my youngest. Some kids you'll need more of it with, some less. If I were you, I'd get 2 tubes of some type of diaper rash cream - one for home and one for the diaper bag.

Right now it's B1G1 1/2 off at Walgreens for Desitin. I had a $1/1 coupon and a RR I used so I got both tubes for about $5.00.
    I to save when I !!!

My son was allergic to everything including Desitin. The only cream that works is Aveeno. I had tubes of Desitin that were given to me that I had to throw away. My older two never had any issues with Desitin though.

I just wanted to agree that every baby is different - Butt Paste did nothing for my DS's diaper rash, but Desitin cleared it up overnight. Wait for the samples & see what works best for your baby.

For all of you who wrote that you still have barely used tubes of Desitin, because it didn't work for your child's diaper rash, you might still have a good use for that Desitin. Another HCW member posted, in a recent thread about flea bites, that Desitin can be used to treat bug bites (all bug bites, not just flea bites). :-) HTH.

I must agree with others who said to wait to see what works for your baby before stocking up. I have never found that most creams worked for us. My little boy seldom got diaper rash, but when he did I always used a product called Calmoseptine. You have to usually special order it at the pharmacy and there are never coupons for it, but it's worth every penny! It actually heals diaper rash overnight. I always found with Desitin and the other creams that all they did was make a barrier and keep the area from getting worse. I always include it in baby gifts now and I'll definitely be using it when the twins are born! HTH someone.
