HELP Walgreens Is it just me?

The last time I went to Walgreens, I was told that if I use a manufacturer coupon for an item, that the RR associated with it will NOT print.

So, what's the deal? Does everyone else just have super lenient stores or am I confused on how it works?

For example: I used 1.50 St ives and didnt get the RR back..I asked why and they said the only way I can get the RR is to buy it full price.

Someone PLEASE help me! I have tons of WAGS near me and I would hate to just abandon the store altogether!

    Thanks in advance! :)

I ran into this about a year ago at my Walgreen's. I called the store, the company that runs the catalina machines (oh yes) and Walgreen's corperate office. I was told, by corperate, that the RR is NOT supposed to print if you use man. Qs on the product. I was also told that SOME stores will allow it, but it's a GLITCH in their system, and, eventually, NO STORES will print out the RRs when man. are used. As a matter of fact, if you read the fine print on the sales ad, under the RR deals, it says "some restrictions apply" .....THAT'S the restriction. I felt this was not specific enough and that the ads were 'bait and switch'.
I stopped going to Walgreen's just for this reason.

Unless rules have changed recently, the cashier gave you wrong information. I used a MQ on each bottle of St Ives I bought, and received a RR for each.

It's possible the catalina machine was simply off. Look for a small green light to be on, that tells you it should be printing.

Or, it's possible that the catalina machine was out of paper, or the paper was jammed. I've had both examples happen to me. Since the green light was on, I knew it should print. So I spoke up, the cashier examined the machine, and noticed the problem was with the paper.

Did you try paying with a St Ives RR? Then you would not receive a second RR. But if you were only trying to pay with the q as you mentioned, then yes, you should have received one when the promo was going on last week.

Hmm. I wonder if this is a YMMV (your mileage may vary) situation? I did the St. Ives deal a bunch of times, and used the $1.50 Q each & every time with no problems. As a matter of fact, one of the most appealing factors of the deal, for me, was that the Q gave overage that I could use to buy another item...

no, my info. came from corperate...not from the cashier. When I originally called, they told me "that was a good question" and they'd have to "get back to me". About 5 days later, someone from corperate headquarters called me back and told me that using a REGULAR MAN. coupon on deals that allowed rr to print was like trying to get a coupon WITH a coupon and it was NOT allowed. The corperate office was aware that some stores currently allowed shoppers to do this, but I was assured that allowing customers to use a man. Q and then receive the RRs was a system glitch IN SOME STORES, and that glitch would be fixed.

What I think is that alot of times it takes a while for them to print so when it doesn't pop right out they pull the answer out the you will not get it because of the coupon. I know there has been times that it has almost take a minute before it printed. Who knows why the say that BS

On what date did you purchase the St. Ives? The RR deal ran from 6/14 - 6/20.
If you didn't purchase during that week, the RR would not have printed.
And I agree with the others - the cashier was misinformed.

This may sound arrogant, but we here on HCW know better than WGs employees, (and yes, even corporate sometimes) how coupons work at WG.

We also know that there are a few stores that want to make up their own rules - their prerogative I guess.... my prerogative is not to shop there.

Hey guys...I was using the ST Ives as an example...

But basically whenever I have a man coupon that corresponds with a RR deal, I get the same story...and this has been in different Wags in different parts of Atl, GA and one in Ohio.

If I am being particular that day, I will ask for the manager, I'm just sick of the argument and its beginning to not even be worth the hassle anymore.

BTW: I was not using a RR to purchase, I was using the manufacturer 1.50 coupon.

Thanks for all the replies! :)
