It sounds like a store/district thing. Maybe they've had problems with people earning RR's and then returning the items?

they better get a rubber stamp or there is gonna be a class action lawsuit by all the cashier with carpel tunnel and cramped hands from all the writing they will be required to do

i would trip out if someone wrote on my reciept since i do mail in rebates. seriously freak out. you never know what phase of the moon or month someone is in who handles mail in rebates and seeing writing all over the reciept might prompt a HECK NO. :hectic1:

Ugh rebates are mystical creatures aren't they??? I can foresee issues in my rebate future... Mine hasn't done this yet and I hope not for aforementioned reason.

I had a cashier write something on each RR I used today (about 6). But it was only 1 out of 7 stores, so I didn't think much about it.

Are you designing your very own god...
or is God designing His very own you?

anyone else encounter this? It's a very q friendly store and the manager's great

Weird! I would have pointed out that the register prints -5.00 on the receipt, and being on a Walgreens receipt...should be obvious. If new policy from corporate, then it should be programmed into their system to read & print on the receipt Reward -$5.00. Seems to be the simple solution. Thats what gets me, the managers who do this deter you from using coupons making themselves look uneducated or lack of common sense. LOL, if it happened to me I would have been bold to ask (nicely of course lol )..."Why would corporate put you on their payroll if you could not look a receipt and figure that out without writing it, not to mention that I am sure most of your sales are vivid in your mind a couple of weeks which is the life spand of a RR. Only returns can be done by managers anyway...right??" "Does corporate babysit all their Mangers like this or just you?" "Because I don't need a babysitter to shop at your store, I am upfront and honest when and if I return anything. Have you ever known me not to be?" LOL, then next time you go and they don't do it, call the manager up have him/her do it explaining you are honest and remembered this was policy and didn't want anyone to go against it. Of course on a day you have time to kill.......lol. I bet that policy will get OLD QUICK, but I wouldn't let it.....haha (I sound so mean, I know...tsk tsk on me).

I think your store is trying to deter abusers. I don't think it was anything personal about you. I think waiting a few more minutes isn't a huge issue if it keeps others from ruining it for all of us.

I think this is an attempt from the store level but they are saying it is from corporate so it sounds more official and the cashiers are more diligent about following what they want out of fear of getting in trouble. As far as the customers, the majority of their customers probably wouldn't bat an eyelash, but for the abusers that complain they can say their hands are tied so there are no arguements and then they can better see the returns of RR merchandise.

I think it makes sense that they do something like this because there are a lot of dishonest people out there who are probably returning their items to get the full price paid back plus keep their rr's.

Would make the most sense for them to have a stamp or have the rr's just print off at the bottom of the receipt like cvs does. I know this isn't really possible since Catalina is separate from wags, but if they could work something like that out, it'd sure help the problem of the rr printer not working too. As it is, sounds like they need a stamp. Problem I see is, just because I return one item doesn't mean it was an item I got the rr for. They would have to be specific about the item on the receipt for it to work right.

Sounds like a jacked up method not thought through very well. I wish people would just stop scamming the system so we all don't have to pay the price for their dishonesty. Being how that is NOT going to happen, hopefully the mgr's will come to know the honest people and not give us a hard time.

That would be when you redeem them it says -$5. I believe we are talking about when you earn them here. As far as I know, it does not currently print out on the receipt when you receive one. Maybe it should start printing on the receipt. It is silly to write on each receipt.

It only takes one person to mess things up for everyone else.

I had one store do that once in all my RR'ing...it was one store out of 10 and only during the $5 Holiday RR's. They wrote a little notation we received it on our receipts.

I actually thought it was a good idea to detract people from returning merch from RR generated items...I HATE ABUSERS!
What would be smarter though is if the receipt automatically did this. Kinda like Target does with their $5 GC deals, it notates it for the products on the receipt.
