Default Walgreens Was the cashier wrong? Or new rule?

My friend and I were in Walgreens this morning and the cashier told her that the RR on the 7up would not print if she used an RR to pay. We explained that the RR for $3 was from a different item and was not a $5RR from a 7up deal. The cashier told us NO, that NO RR's will print if you pay with any RR.
We didn't push it. My friend will just use the $3RR on something else, but has anyone else run into this? Or was the cashier just incorrect?
Just Monday at a different store I used a $2RR to pay for the Skintamate that DID produce a $3RR.

    Thanks

I've been told this too on several occasions. I just tell them that I'd like to use the coupon/RR instead of get the new RR, so they scan it. Then my RR prints out anyway and they're just like 'ohhh'. Maybe they just think it won't print because if it is the same promotion it won't? and they're just confused? I don't know.

I think often the cashiers are just not well-informed. I have had them tell me that before too, and I just say 'I think it will-- let's go ahead and try it.' Of course, they are surprised when it prints the new RR!!

This happened to my dh last night, there are signs up at our wags now that say if you pay with one, one won't print out. So he tried it, payed with 2 rr and 1 printed out. But I am not sure if you can push it all the time. Most of the cashiers at mine are really sticky and probably won't budge, or what if they won't give it to me? I read somewhere on here that no one can pre-program the rr machines so they can't make a rr not print out when it should. I don't know, it's so irritating!

Don't suppose anyone has tried calling Catalina and asking them? ... or, maybe you're talking about a "OYNO" RR ... but, if it's issued by a manufacturer and not WAG, still seems like Cataliina would be the one to make the call ...

I, too, have been told this sometimes. Fortunately, at my store, they know I'm kinda "slow" when I think I'm right ... I'll try to persuade a brick wall ... so, they "try" it for me and, when it works, "Gee, you were right ... how'd you know?"

If this is the new rule, it should be printed in the fine print on the cat, at least!

WAG is not known for being a wild axx guess for nothing. I think around here they only hire people wh do NOT have a hs diploma/GED or people w/ hearing/vision problems.

I will tell such a cashier to do it anyhow and if the new, non-related RR does NOT print I will return the ENTIRE order immediatly, then try a different WAG.

If I still have "issues" I will email wag corp & the mfg about why I bought NOTHING/did not buy their product. Mfg marketing dept. need to know if/why their plans/promos are not working. Also, as a single person complaint I will get nowhere but if someone like ConAgra or PG get LOTS from all over the country they will get on a store corp like white on rice. The system WILL improve, just take time & numerous complaints.

I think they need to educate their employees on their rewards programs because they're going to end up loosing business rather than making it. Why switch from the easy saver program to register reward and now to who know what if your employees can't even figure out the rules of the original program that was set.

I went this morning and tried to get the Nivea and a pocket tissue (to bring me to 2 items for 2 coupons). Used a $1 off Nivea MQ and a $2 RR (was from a different company) and my RR didn't print. The cashier AND manager ran this line on me bout paying with a RR, one won't print. I know better! But I also know better than to go to that store. UGH! Will be taking my other 2 $2 RR's to the friendly Walgreens down the road today.
