Q: How does Walgreens EasySaver rebate work?
A: Walgreens rebates are mailed in (except for online submission states - see next Q).
First locate the rebate booklet in the store or online. Take your receipt and circle the price and the item and write the offer number from the booklet next to the item on your receipt. You can choose on the rebate form to either receive your rebate in the form of a check or a Walgreens gift card. choosing to get your rebate back in the form of a gift card you earn 10% more back on your rebate (except for offers that exclude the 10%). You can then use your Walgreens gift card to purchase next month’s rebate items or to purchase gift cards for other retailers. No UPC is required for most Walgreens rebates unless noted in the rebate booklet.

Q: Can we submit rebates online ?
A: A Test Program is available in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Tennessee and Wisconsin
1. Go to Walgreens | Store Online |EasySaver Catalog
2. Click the "Claim Rebates" link in the box for the Test Program.
3. Sign in or register for a free account.
4. Click the "Start/add receipt" link for the appropriate rebate period.
5. You will be given a list of possible rebates. Click the checkbox next to the ones for which you've made purchases then click the "Continue" button. This step is easier if you have the rebate catalog in hand to cross check the rebate numbers.
6. For each receipt, enter the RFN# (20 digit number on the receipt) then click "Save Receipt". The system will not automatically/instantly check your receipt for rebate items.
7. If you think you will have more purchases during the period, click the "Save and return later" button, and then repeat from step #3 above when you are ready to add more receipts. If you are ready to submit your claim, click the "Continue" button.
8. Choose whether you want to be sent a new gift card, to have a gift card reloaded (and enter the giftcard number), or to have a check sent. Click the "Continue" button.
9. Double check the summary of your claim then click the "Claim rebates now" button. Once you have clicked this button, your rebate is submitted, and you can not add more receipts. If you do not click this button by the end of the rebate period, the system will autosubmit any receipts you have entered.
10. Store your receipts until you have received your rebate. If you have any disputes about your rebate claim, you will need the receipts.

To check the online claim status:
1. Go to Walgreens | Store Online |EasySaver Catalog
2. Click the "Claim Rebates" link in the box for the Test Program.
3. Sign in or register for a free account.
4. Click the "Claim requested" link for the appropriate rebate period.

Q: What is a Walgreens Instant Value Coupon (IVC)?
A: These are Walgreens store coupons found in the EasySaver rebate booklet in the store or view online. You need to use the coupon from the printed booklet. You can combine both an IVC and a manfacturer coupon on regular, sale, clearance and rebate items.

Q: Where on the form do I ask for the gift card to get the 10% bonus.
A: If this is your first WAG rebate, then check the box in the upper right corner of page 1 of the rebate. If you already have a WAG GC from a previous rebate and you do not want another card - do NOT check that box - just fill in the GC number in the area provided above your name.

Q: Do I have to buy a Walgreens Gift card if I am requesting a gift card on my rebate?
A: No. Walgreens ESR will not use a gift card from the store when assigning your refund -- it has to be issued by the rebate department.

Q: What if I forget to send my receipt in?
A: Call Walgreens and explain the situation. They should be able to help you with it.

Q: How can I get a rebate receipt at my Walgreens
A: Not all Walgreens have the capability to print them out but if yours does here is instrctions on how to print
1. Walgreens has two keypads on the register: main one and a smaller one to the left of the main one
The middle button on bottom row of smaller left keypad is "Special Receipt" button
2. Tell the cashier to push the Special Receipt button first
3. Scan the item that you want the rebate receipt for.
4. It will ask what kind of special receipt: the option you need is number 3
5. The cashier should press 3 on the regular numeric keypad
6. IF you have more than one item in your transaction worthy of a doubleplay, then REPEAT steps #2-#5 for each item you want a rebate receipt for.
7. Finish the transaction
8. Make sure cashier hands you both/all receipts

Q: Can I use the rebate receipt for the EasySaver?
A: No. Only the original receipt can be used for EasySaver rebates. Use the rebate receipt for mfr. rebates. You can also sometimes use the electronic journal for EasySaver rebates.

Q: Can I use a mfr. Coupon with a Walgreens 7-day coupon or an EasySaver instant value coupon?
A: Yes, you can. If the mfr. coupon causes overage or even .01 more than the cost, you may have problems (coupon will beep). Walgreens does have the capability to override the cost of the item to make it match the coupon, though not all stores will do this. To avoid overage beeping, scan the manf coupon first, then the 7 day &/or IVC.

Q: Does Walgreens charge you tax on the original price or after coupon price?
A: it depends on the state you are in and what type of coupon you are using. different states have different state sales tax rules. However, in most states, the sales tax is charged on manufacturer coupon amounts but NOT on store coupon amounts. The 7-day coupons in the Walgreen's weekly ad are store coupons and so the tax should come off of those amounts. However, the coupons in the EasySaver booklet are technically manufacturer coupons because the store does get reimbursed from the maufacturer and so those coupon amounts are taxed.

Q: What is a 7-day coupon?
A: These are Walgreens store coupons found in the weekly store sales flyer. Give these to the cashier to scan to get the advertised sale price for that item.

Q: Can I use a Walgreens 7-day with an EasySaver instant value coupon?
A: Yes, you can.

Q: Can I use a mfg. Coupon or a Walgreens coupon on clearance items?
A: Yes. You can use a mfg. coupon and/or a Walgreens coupon on clearance items. Once again overage may cause problems.

Q: Can I use 2 manf coupons when purchasing B1G1F items?
A: YMMV on this depending on how it rings up and the store policy. If the store sale is a 7 day coupon, ring the manf coupon first, then the 7 day coupon. If the sale is a non-7 day coupon, chances are you won't be able to use two manf coupons, but again, YMMV.

Q: Can I use an IVC and/or 7 day coupon on B1G1F items?
A: Yes, the IVC and/or 7 day coupon should automatically deduct the $ amount for each qualifying item scanned.

Q: My Walgreens won't do what this FAQ says! (i.e. adjust coupons down, let me use 1 Walgreens coupon and 1 manufacturer's coupon, tells me that one per purchase means one per transaction.) What can I do?
A: Fill out the customer complaint form and tell customer service what happened. Usually they respond within 48 hours with a copy of Walgreen's coupon policy. I keep this in my binder so if I run into a problem I can show it to the cashier.

Q: Can I use printables at Walgreens?
A: YMMV from store to store. Best to check with the management of your particular store. They do have a link to internet printable coupons on their site Walgreens.com - Online pharmacy & drugstore, prescriptions, health information, photo center

I don't see anything I want but I think it provides a good argument if they tell you they don't take printables.

Q: I forgot to redeem my mfr., 7day, or instant value coupon what do I do?
A: Walgreens is pretty good about honoring them after the purchase has been made. Go back into the store and ask them.

Q: Why can’t I find all these clearance items that everyone is talking about?
A: Clearance is greatly YMMV. Not all stores carry the same merchandise. Some stores might have run out of stock by the time the item goes on clearance. Some stores decide to dispose of merchandise if its close to expiration. Clearance items can be found in the clearance section of the store (endcaps usually), where the item is regularly kept with a fluorescent orange shelf tag, and/or not marked at all. So keep your eyes peeled and if you are unsure if an item is clearance priced have a cashier check the price for you.

Q: Why doesn’t my Walgreens ever seem to have the sale items in stock?!
A: There can be many reasons for this to happen. The manager may not be adept at anticipating the demand for an item, the warehouse may not have the item, or their delivery date causes them to get some of the items during the sale and not before. You can talk to a member of management to find out what the possible cause is. If necessary, they have the ability to get the item in from other stores. It’s only good customer service to do so and you have the right to (politely) demand they do so.

Q: When does Walgreens restock their shelves ?
A: Every store has a different schedule. Please call your store for their schedule.


Q: Do Walgreens pharmacies accept competitor pharmacy coupons?
A: Most don’t at this time. Check with your store to be sure.

Q: What about rainchecks?
A: Walgreens rainchecks are good at all locations not just the store they are issued from. Unless your raincheck has an expiration date on it, they do not expire. Some stores do pose an expiration date on their rainchecks. Usually 30 days. If an item is out of stock they are required per most state laws to issue the customer a raincheck unless the sale ad has a disclaimer in it to the effect of something like "while in stock" or "while quantities last" etc.

Q: The IVC or 7 day coupon has a limit of (lets say) 4. Can I only purchase 4 items with the coupon? Will I need 2 coupons to purchase 8 items?
A: The limit on IVC and 7 day coupon can be enforced by your store, but they rarely do. If you purchase 8 items the amount of the IVC or 7 day coupon will be taken off automatically for all 8 items you bought. You do not need multiple Walgreens coupons for multiple items. If there is a limit on the coupon and the store is out of stock and you wish to get a raincheck it is very likely that the limit on your raincheck will reflect the limit on the WAG coupon.

Q: The EasySaver rebates are supposed to be postmarked by today, but I forgot. Will my rebate go through even though it is postmarked a few days late?
A: Go ahead and mail it in as soon as possible. Seems that many people have reported that they still have gotten their rebate even though it was mailed a few days late. Make sure you keep copies of all receipts and your submissions just in case.

***Collecting your rebate gift cards and then redeeming for other store gift cards is a great way to fund your holiday gift giving needs.

Q: Can gift cards be paid for with "on your next order" register rewards/catalinas.
A: Yes, if the RR does not prohibit, others have reported success in paying for gift cards with RR.

Q: Do I need a store card at Walgreens?
A: No. There is no Walgreens store card.

Q: Can one or more WG GC balance(s) be loaded to another WG GC ?
A: Yes. If you have a new Walgreens card, you have to load multiples of $10. If you are loading a "rechargeable" card (these are tan in color and the ones mailed to you with rebate), you can load any amount.
Here is the sequence cashier should follow:
1. punch a key (i'm not sure which one!)
2. swipe card #1 to LOAD $ on (increase balance of card #1)
3. swipe card #2 to PAY $ (decrease balance of card #2)

Q: Do I have to put my email address and phone number on the Easy saver Reabte Form?
A: Neither are required. Phone number is used for easy tracking on your rebate by telephone. If you include email, you may get an email from WAG when your rebate is paid/shipped.

Q: Does Walgreens do price adjustments? For example, I bought something at regular price last week and now it's on sale.
A: Check with your store to be sure. Most stores will adjust if purchase is within a short window of time. You will either need to (1) bring in receipt for refund of difference or (2) return item to get a refund and repurchase at the sale price.

Q: Item in the ESR catalog is FAR. The wording used on the tally sheet is that the "price paid" is refunded. Is this the actual price paid, or the original price between coupons? Example: an item is $5.00 and I use a $2.00 manuf coupon, bringing total paid to $3. Will I receive a $3 rebate or $5 rebate?
A: You will recive the price BEFORE coupons. In this case, $5.

Q: A rebate in the ESR catalog is buy two of an item to get $x rebate. I bought two when it was bogo so my CRT reads $x.xx and $0.00 for the 2nd item. Will I still get the rebate ?
A: Yes, the offer is for buying two so your purchase will qualify.

Q: A rebate in the ESR catalog is buy $x amount of items and get $x rebate. Do I calculate the before or after coupon price to meet the $x requirement ?
A: , You count the item price as it appears on the receipt toward the dollar amount needed to reach the rebate requirement. Before any 7-day, manf or IVC coupons.

Q: The rebate form has 5 columns: Offer #, Name of Product, Rebate Total, Qty, and Earnings. What do I put in the earnings column???
A: The earnings are the rebate amount. Say you bought 1 item with a $2 rebate - you'd enter $2. Two items with a $3 rebate would = earnings of $6

Q: Are special promotion offer totals added to the rebate total row? For example, P&G Buy $20 and get $10 GC. Is the $10 GC amount added to total of other rebates for that month ?
A: Yes add it to the total. Just remember the 10% bonus does not apply to the Walgreens GC offers.

Q: What if I lose my receipt on a rebate item?
A: They do allow returns without a receipt and they put it on a giftcard for you. You might have a limit of how many returns you can make without a receipt (like Walmart) because they do ask for ID.

Q: Does Walgreens accept another stores coupons?
A: Walgreens does not accept competitiors coupons.

Q: How long does it take to receive GCs ?
A: terms from ESR booklet ....."allow 8 to 10 weeks for delivery of your rebate after submission is received"

Q: What is the longest time it takes for the online ES status to update?

Q: What if the Catalina is torn and won’t scan ?
A: they can enter the #s manually IF the #s part in small print are visible.

Q: how do I find the nearest walgreens to me ?

Q: On rebate deal where you have to spend so much on certain items (buy $10 of Stayfree get $10 rebate). IS that before or after coupons. So lets say the orginal price is $10 but w/ coupons its $5 (just making up numbers) will that work or does the price have to be $10 AFTER coupons.
A: BEFORE coupons = that is how you profit from these deals!

Q: can I submit my rebate online
A: walgreens is currently testing one state (Alabama). All other states must mail in rebate requests.

Q: Does Walgreens mail to PO Boxes ?
A: yes

Q: Does Walgreens give giftcards for new or transferred prescriptions?
A: Perhaps when a new store opens. Also there was a $20 coupon in a ValPak homemailer earlier in 2007

Q: Does Walgreens price match
A: No, they do not.

Q: How do I check my GC balance ?
A: On the back of one of my WAG gift cards it says: For balance inquiries, check receipt or call 1-877-248-5555.


Q: When submitting for a rebate, do I request a new card each time, or just continue to reload the one I have?
A: You can select either method. GC reloads are reportedly faster than the issuance of new GCs. If you opt for GC reload, Walgreens will mail you a postcard with the reload details.

Q: Does Walgreens round up at all for their rebates? Say I buy $19.98 in xyz products, but the rebate states buy an even $20 to get the rebate do you have to hit that number or above to actually qualify (even if you're only a few cents short)?
A: Purchase must meet or exceed specified amount


Q: When do the online ad previews at walgreens.com go up? I thought the next week's ad went up on Thursday. Yes?
A: Usually the THursday before. Keep your eye open for the 'sneak peek' post here at HCW !

Q: I lost my Easy saver catalog. Can I still submit the offer ?
A: Go to http://www.walgreens.com/ and download/print the rebate form for current month.

Q: How long does it take for my rebate to be loaded on my giftcard?
A: If this is your first EasySaver rebate submission where your rebate is to be loaded on a gift card it usually takes 3-4 weeks. If you already have a gift card and you are waiting for it to be loaded with your rebate it is usually a little bit faster.

Q: Does Walgreens offer a military discount?
A: Ask your store. Some shopper report discount on certain day of the week for military members/families.

Q: Can I combine a manf catalina and an insert manf coupon?
A: you can't combine these, you have to use one or the other. They are both mfr coupons.

Q: I have been trying to get the current walgreens ad on line and I just keep getting next weeks ad.
A: try closing the browser and going to wag homepage and click on the weekly ad link

Q: I got some $2/$10 coupons for a new Walgreens store. Do my total need to be $10 before (like CVS), or after coupons?
A: They compute the $2/$10 BEFORE coupons, just make sure to give it first if you have MQs and IVCs and it will go through w/o problems.

Q. Can I print the easy saver book that is on walgreens website and use those coupons in the store or do i need to get the book from the store and use those
A: This requires a lot of ink, but you can print and use at the store.

Q. we are getting a walgreens in my town.. what do i need to know before I start shopping there.

Q: Where do you see the # of rebates allowed per person?
A: The EASY Saver book tells you how many you can do per offer.

Q: Does Walgreens give overage ?
A: As always, YMMV with individual cashiers. Walgreen's policy is not to give overage. Make sure you have purchased enough items to cover any potential overage. If the overage results from a manf coupon +7 day coupon, then most times overage will be obtained if the manf coupon does not exceed the pre-7 day coupon price.

Q: If a 7-day coupon says 10/$1, do I have to buy 10 or can I only buy less than 10 and still have them ring up at .10 each?
A: 7 day coupon will reduce the item price accordingly, even if you buy only 1.

Q: If a rebate states buy $x.xx and receive $x.xx back does it have to all be in one purchase? For example buy $15 get $5, would I have had to purchase all $15 on one receipt ?
A: You can buy separately as long as the total meets/exceeds the purchase requirement.

I wanted to post that I emailed Walgreens about using a 7 day coupon AND IVC AND manu. Here was their response:

Thank you for taking your time to contact our Corporate Offices. We appreciate hearing from our customers and value all comments received.
We do not have a coupon policy. We use coupon guidelines and it is at the discretion of each store manager to set their store guidelines. Below is a copy of the coupon guidelines set forth by corporate.

Walgreen stores accept a variety of coupons everyday. The coupons generally fall into two categories...

Walgreen issued coupons and manufacturer issued coupons.

We will accept one Walgreen issued coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits such use. You may use a “Walgreens” Roto Ad coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon, toward the purchase on any one item.

Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than the purchase value of the item. Coupons from other retailers or coupons for products not carried in our stores are not accepted. All valid coupons must be presented to the cashier at the time of sale.

When purchasing two of the same item with a Buy one get one free coupon offer can an additional manufacturers coupon or store coupon be used in combination on the purchase?
NO...... One item is being purchased and only one coupon can be used.

If a product is purchased for a price of .78 (cents), for example, and a coupon is given with face value of $1.00, how much is the proper coupon deduction? Product retail plus taxes, unless state requires consumer to pay taxes.

If a coupon states “good on any size of the product” but does not specifically exclude trial sizes of this product, can the coupon be used on the trial size of the product?
Yes, unless coupon is printed with the wording (excluding trial sizes).

Does the term, “one coupon per purchase”, mean per item or per visit to the store? Per item purchased.

May coupons be used toward the purchase of clearance items?
Yes, however Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than the purchase value of the item.

Must internet coupons be printed from the internet in color or is black and white acceptable? It does not matter how internet coupons are printed.

If I have three coupons and three items will all of the coupons double/triple and allow me to make like savings on like products?
We will accept one Walgreen issued coupon and one manufacture coupon for the same one item, unless either coupon prohibits such use.

Price Matching Policy? As a company we do not price match so the answer to all of the below questions
are NO........

Do you price match any ad from any store or just certain ones?
If only certain ones, what is the criteria?
Does the ad have to have a date on it?
Do you price match internet stores/ads? If so, what information must be

Accurate Price scan guarantee:
If an item scans at a price different from the advertised stated price, what is the customer entitled to, if anything?
Currently we do not have a price guarantee policy. (Buffalo)

Does a Manager have the right to limit the number of ad items I purchase even though there is no limit listed in the ad circular?
Yes, Managers have the right to limit quantities of all advertised items.

Can a store which does not sell an advertised item issue me a rain-check for that item?
Rain checks are not available from stores that do not carry the advertised item.
Do you except expired coupons?
No expired coupons
If I purchase an item with a coupon and I return the item, will I receive a refund for the coupon as well?
No, we cannot issue them the refund from the manufacture coupons.

Walgreens is coining this phrase of "Register Reward" which really a Catalina.

There are basicaly 2 types of catalinas.

1. is a coupon for a certain product. These are just like any other manf coupon. Watch the wording on the ones at Walgreens because SOME are manuf. coupons and some have been store coupons. If the catalina is a store coupon...you can combine it with a manf coupon for more savings.

2. is a OYNO (on your next order) catalina, otherwise known at Walgreens as a "register reward". These are good on anything not prohibited by law (varies state to state but usually excluded, tobacco, alchohol, and stamps. Some states exclude dairy, and some of these register rewards exclude gift certificates)
