Walgreens ESR #17 energizer phone charger $5.01MM !!!!!!!!! update 4/4

*** UPDATE: 4/4/09:
I went to another store and they were on the clearance end cap for $4.99!!!!!!!! They rang up as 4.99 and I will submit a rebate for $10.00 which makes for a $5.01MM! Check your stores!!!

I found a row of 3 energizer cell phone chargers on a clearance end cap. Their tag was orange and marked "was: 19.99" now: "9.99"

.. and I thought, SWEET the easy saver rebate is for $10 so that makes for a free cell phone charger... or a 0.01 overage I guess.

So I bring it up to the register and it rings up as 19.99, and I had the cashier ask the manager why it wasn't 9.99 and he said "because its a mail in rebate which makes it 9.99"

so confused.... why would they mark the shelf as 9.99 if that was the price after your mail in rebate? is that normal? There was nothing on the shelf stating that the item had an associated MIR.:shrug7:

Not any more misleading than when they station a shopping cart of stuff up front with a big sign and price noted. I am led to believe I can get it free with the ESC and mfc. When I get the item scanned at the register, come to find out the price they advertise on the sign is AFTER EasySaver Coupon. Disappoints me every time.

first off, they shouldnt have been by the clearance and marked with an orange tag. That annoys me to no end

NO WAY!!! If it was on the end cap, clearly marked "clearance", I would have thrown a fit!

Yeah there was a huge line and I was in a rush so I just voided it.
There were different kinds though, some only worked with Motorola Phones, Samsung, Sprint, etc... so maybe one was on clearance and not the other.

Maybe I will go back and investigate :-)

I had something similar happen once... I had gone in and seen an ESR item marked clearance, but I didn't have my coupons. So, go home and come back the next day with my coupon and they weren't there anymore. DH and I are looking and he finally asks an employee who was stocking if they had anymore of that clearance item. She walks over to a shelf, pulls one down, then proceeds to tear off the clearance tag. I said something along the lines of "that was marked clearance yesterday, why are you taking the tag off?" and she told me it was marked clearance because it was a rebated item. I was like "forget it". Came back a week later and they were back on the clearance shelf with the clearance price marked again. :shrug7:

Oooh I hope I find these tomorrow :) If this truly is the last month for the rebate program, I would LOVE to make the most of it!

Found one of these today in Dover, NH. Its been there for at least a couple weeks. Never bothered looking at it, DH grabbed it and it actually works with our Nextel Motorola phones (which are old and never seem to fit anything not bought from Nextel). Needless to say thats the second thing we've gottne a good deal on from clearance in two weeks. Made up for the lack of wipes and softsoap.
