HOT HORRIBLE experience at WAGS this morning - I am soooo MAD!!!

This is longggggg - I apologize in advance....

First let me start by saying I am NOT a morning person, but wanted to pick up a few items at WAGS after doing my regualr 7-11 morning run!

I was at Walgreens last night mand purchased the same items with the same coupons with NO problems whatsoever.

I go this morning thinking I know exactly what I am getting and exactly what coupons I am using, so I would be in and out quickly and with no issues. Boy, was I wrong.... :shrug7:

Here is what I was planning on purchasing:

    First Transaction:

    1 - Edge Shave Gel $ 2.99
    1 - Chapstick $ 1.99
    1 - Breeze 2 Glucose Monitor $14.99 sale
    9 - One-A-Day Mutivitamin Drink Mixes $ 1.49 each (sale price)

    Second Transaction:

    1 - Skintimate Shave Gel $ 2.99
    1 - Chapstick $ 1.99
    1 - Contour Glucose Meter $14.99
    2 - Soy Joy Bars $ 1.00 (for two)

    - Manager (an assistant mgr) came and put above MQ's (3 - $1.00 off) through but only after giving me a lecture on how I could not get any money make (I wasn't asking for any money back and actually anticipated they would adjust the Q down)

    - I then presented one of my $4 MQ's for the One-A-Day drink mixes. The coupon states save $4 off ANY 2 One-A-day Multivitamin products. Cashier immediately freaked again and said she had to call a manager. Manager comes and after reading over coupon and looking over receipt and looking through my bag put the coupon through.

    - BUT she refuses to take the other 2 $4 coupons and the 1 - $1 off any One-Day coupon I had. She said it is becuase they are only one per customer. I read off the coupon and ask her where it states this. She then says I am getting a mail in rebate so she will only take ONE of these coupons. I explained that I had 9 of the products and coupons for only 7 of the products. In addition, I explained that I could ONLY get a rebate for ONE of the items not 9 of them. Still refused.

    - I attempted to present the Wags policies that someone posted either here or another forum I frequent (supposedly given to them by a Wags manager) and was drilled on where I got it (said a manager gave it to me) which one (I didn't want to say as to not get them in trouble), why was the name/info missing (said they blocked it out) why (said they probably didn't want to get in trouble for giving it out.
I was then mocked by another cashier and the manager saying that they didn't think it was real, they didn't know where I got it from etc. etc.

    - As a last ditich effort to get the heck out of the store, I ask that she take the $1 coupon too since it is technically a different coupon - NO NO NO!!!

    - Hand the cashier the MQ for UP TO $30 off the glucose meter and she freaked out once again. Another cashier (cashier 2) came over and told her to calm down and just enter the price for $14.99. This cashier finished entering that coupon.

    - Hand over a RR for $4 to cashier 2. Takes it no problem. Hand over RR for $1 and says they will only take 1 RR per transaction. Tried to explain how that works but was so aggravated i just paid and left.

Called customer service (and sent email). I said I wanted to speak with the district manager. They said they would have him contact me. They also said they wanted the general store manager to contact me so I could use my coupons immediately (since the DM is not in the store to accept my coupons)

Store Manager calls me back - here are some of the highlights of our conversation...

-They have been having coupon issues so the cashier and asst. mgr. must have been overwhelmed when they saw my coupons and thus why they denied me using them.

-When the manfacturer says "$4.00 off any two items" - they mean for it to be used on 2 items that are $8 or $9 each. (even though the MQ doesn't state this)

    - They only allow 1 RR per transaction or else people would just use a million MQ/RR's and "walk out with a bag of free stuff."

    - BUT, they allow a MQ for each and every item AND 1 RR for the transaction

    - She said it states right on the RR that it says ONE PER TRANSACTION and still would not relent after I read her the verbage off of the RR. She said they must have changed what it says but that it is still only one per transaction. (unless the RR is for $ off a certain item, then I can use more than 1)

    - They will accept MQ's over the purchase price as "a courtesy" as long as it is only 20 cents or a few cents. (I am assuming she was refering to why they accepted the reynolds Q and not the others) But she said they will not accept a say a $4 Q for a $1 item. They do not adjust down the Q's they just put through the ones with a small difference as a courtesy. They can't accept anything with a big difference.

    - The night cashiers who accepted my Q's and RR's last night are newer and don't know what they are doing, so they will have to be spoken to. The daytime/early morning staff have all been there a long time and know what they are doing and the policies

Since obviously I was not going to get anywhere with her, we left it that I would wait for the DM to call me back.

I also expressed to the manager that I was very embarrassed this morning, because a line was accruing and I felt as if the assistant manager was acting as if I was trying to scam/steal from them. There was little to no sympathy...

Sooooo, what does everyone think???? Tips, advice, feedback?

    Was I wrong on anything?

AMG! There are so many things wrong with what that manager said I don't even know where to start lol. For one thing "When the manfacturer says "$4.00 off any two items" - they mean for it to be used on 2 items that are $8 or $9 each. (even though the MQ doesn't state this)" It doesn't matter what the manufacturer intended. If it is only to be used on a certain item it will say so on the coupon.Pet peeve of mine right there :)I'd wait and see what the DM says, and if he gives you the same spiel, contact corp. If he agrees with you, make sure that it is made clear to the store manager that the DM agrees with you (I'm sure they contact the store manager but I'd ask him just to make sure) Wags must've sent out some ambiguous memo about qs and that's what these issues are about because there have been soooo many problems so far this week.

Do you think we have so many problems the cashiers/managers are jealous of our "free" items or they are just uninformed?

I don't think cashiers get "jealous" of the deals. I do think with the memos flying around and the economy as it is, they might worry about their jobs.

I do hope you get a resolution.

I'm new, but would this have worked okay if you had done the transactions separately (not the 9 drink mixes, of course) but bought the shave gel, then bought the chapstick in a different transaction, then another shave gel in a different transaction?

I got the whole ONE RR per transaction line yesterday. I told him I thought it was like cash ... he shrugged. Then I looked at him and said "Well I guess next time I will have to split my purchases so I can use them both" and gave him a gotcha kind of smile. From the sounds of it, I might have to actually walk out the door and back in!! Really wish I knew what that Mystery Memo said, because it's giving me a headache.

I have had similar experiences at Walgreens. It never seems to get any easier there.

Sorry you had a rough time at Walgreens. So far I haven't had that kind of troubles yet at Walgreens but I haven't had all the coupons either. My source for free coupons dried up.
