It will work...but I'm not sure thats how you are supposed to use those coupons.
I have a new rx to fill. I have a transfer rx coupon to walgreens. Will it work if I take the rx to walmart and put it on fill and then have it transfer to walgreens or will it be conisdered NEW since it's never been filled?
TIA

You just trasnfer the rx and when you got and pick up the rx, you had them the coupon and get the gc. Tho I did leave out the details of the coupon.

I think it is still considered a new script because it has never been filled before.

I went to pick it up and i guess it was considered a transfer because I gave them the coupon and I got the gift card. This could also be a YMMV case. I don't know how they verify anything eventhough he did look it up on the computer before he went to the tub thingys to get it.

I am not a fan of Walmart and all....but....it doesn't seem right...why waste their time if you were just going to transfer it...don't you get a giftcard for new or transferred scripts?
It is considered a transfer because you transferred it from another pharmacy. Walgreens has no knowledge to if you actually got it filled at the other pharmacy or not. Im sure its a privacy issue and walmart would not be able to tell another pharmacy that information, wether you got it filled once, none or twelve times. They can only tell them how many refills are left on the medication. But, I do agree with the previous poster...it doesnt seem right. That is not the way the coupons were intended to be used. If they wanted to let you use it on a NEW script (thats never been filled) they would have put that wording on the coupon. What works is not always right.
This was not how the coupon was intended to be used. In order to get this 25 dollars, you wasted Walmart's time in filling it, the Walmart pharmacist and the Walgreens pharmacist's time in transfering it. And yes, we can tell if it was never filled and picked up at Walmart. This is YMMV big time and should not be done, to be honest. Some states have even outlawed RX transfer coupons due to problems associated with them ie: it encourages people to fill and transfer their scripts around to get $10 or $25 and does not let the pharmacist check interactions with all their drugs. Sorry, but this isn't a good practice.

I never wasted Walmarts time, I asked for the script to be put on file. I tend to lost scripts so I have them put on file at the pharmacy. Not wasting anyones time.
How can I be wasting Walgreens time? I had the script transfered to Walgreens and filled at Walgreens, they got paid by hte insurance company and ME to fill the scripts.
There is nothing wrong with transfering scripts. If I want to transfer scrips every month, I can do that, in my state, reguardless if you like it or not. You have no idea the amount of money I spend a month in on meds for me along and I need to find the deals where I can.
I asked a question. I didn't know what to expect. If I got told no then I got told no. I was not going to be upset and I'm well aware of any drug interaction and so is my doctor.
