I donate the blood glucose monitors to the Health Services center on our local University campus. The nurse practitioner there has always thanked me for them and often e-mails me to let me know that they've all found good homes! I've also told her she was welcome to pass them on to the low/no cost clinic that she volunteers with. So I'm fairly certain it's okay to donate them ... but rules may vary by state or it may just depend on how 'official' things are in your area.

Most store will not accept these back due to health issues. I also donate these. You can ask around at doctor's offices and they can usually give you names of places you can donate too.
