    HOT Irritated with "register rewards"

I had a bad day at my Walgreen's today, and I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this. I went to Walgreen's to buy Kellogg's Cereal. The ad says, "4/$10 and get $5 in register rewards good for next purchse". Underneath the offer, the fine print reads, "* Limit 1 Register Rewards coupon printed per offer. See Coupon for exclusion and limitations". I'm fairly new to couponing, so I have learned to read the fine print, so that I don't embarass myself. Okay, so I waltz in with my Qs, and here's my scenario. I plan on buying 4 boxes for $10 minus my 2 $1/2 Qs. Then, I'll use my Register Rewards, and by=ut 4 more for $10 minus two more $1/2 Qs and minus the $5 register rewards. That brings total cost to roughly $1.38 a bx, when you average it all out. That sounds worth it. So I put the first 4 boxes up, use my Qs, pay for them, and I get no printed Register Rewards (?). I asked the cashier what happened, and since he was also at a loss, he called the manager. The manager tells me that I don't get the register rewards, because I used coupons on my purchase. What?! He tells me the ad states "that there are limitations". I returned the cereal, politely, and asked for my Qs back. I told him I would not be purchasing the other four boxes of cereal. He was obviously irritated. Are you kidding me? Did I miss something? How the heck was I supposed to know that? Has anyone else had this problem?

Using coupons do not matter. You should still get your RRs. I did just today. I think the problem is these darn RR machines. I pretty much ask the cashier up front if she has seen her machine spit out RRs, and if not, I got to another register. I have had much better success checking out at the beauty counters. Even then, I let them know that I am expecting RRs, and please don't put the coupons away because we may need to void the transaction if the rewards don't print.

In one instance in doing the Olay deal last week, the rewards did not print, and I was using coupons. Since I know that shouldn't matter, I let him know that I did the deal earlier in the week with coupons with no problem. He proceeded to ring up my stuff again not using coupons, and still no RR. We went to a different register, used coupons, and out popped the RR. It really makes me mad that the machines are so unreliable.

    Sorry to ramble.....

ok when i went to the cosmetic to check out today I told them up front i was using a lot of coupons and sorrybut we might need a manger. so they knew right away this might be tricky;)..

The manger explained if you look at page 3 . BUY $10 dollars worth of product and then you get 5dollar rr. so if you use coupons and such then your total is less then the $10 requirement. 1st page the cereal only doesn't have that stupid fine print so its ok to use coupons w/ that.

As for your cereal scenario 1) did you buy any corn puffs in first transaction?? if so for some reason its giving others problems as well by messing the system up so you don't get a RR to print out. 2) your saying you'd be using the $5rr from 1st transaction on the 2nd transaction right?? if so then you know the 2nd transaction wont print off another RR right? sorry you had a problem w/ Walgreen's today. I go only to cosmetics now due to I have better and friendlier expierence checking out there then at the main cashier

I was buying corn pops! How odd... I was doing the cereal on the front page. 2) I knew I was only getting the $5 for the first transaction (THAT part really was in the fine print). The irritating part was that the mngr. acted like it was my fault...like I misread the add. Huh...I wonder how I address this for future transactions? My Walgreen's only has 2 checkouts...photo and front. There's usually only one cashier there.

There are WAAAY too many "gotchas" on the current Kelloggs deal. I am NOT doing it at WAG because:
too few choices available on cereal flavors (2)
too few choices available on Special K bar flavors (2)
NO pecan sandies or ANY other K brand cookies
base price (2.50 @) IS TOO high (local store is BOGO w/ TONS of flavor choices)
issues w/ RR printing (read this forum)
needing to get 10 items on 1 receipt

Also, RR rewards expiere in 2 weeks & the preview here shows I want DIDLY next week.

Well I heard from the Catalina guy that it is because of coupons.
I did the Nabisco cracker RR deal 7/27 - used Qs, got no RR.
I went home & called Catalina the next day. They asked me if I used coupons, and when I said yes they werent suprised. They said that Walgreens are having a problem with the catalinas printing when you use coupons. He took all my info from my receipt, and I just got a $3 Catalina and a "we're sorry for you inconvience" type of letter.

There is a known problem with the RR not printing in all stores on the Cereal. They are trying to get it fixed. It has nothing to do with using coupons.

    Q: My RR/Catalina didn't print. What do I do ?
A1: The store will give you a form to fill out and mail in to catalina
    A2: 1-888-8coupon, option 3
A3: use the online form: Contact | Catalina Marketing

Have you guys seen the movie "Oh Brother Where Art thou?" Do you remember the scene where the manager throws the main character out of the store and says 'now stay out of the Woolsworth' in his southern drawl? Well, I picture that scene with the word "Walgreens" inserted there instead.

I stay out of Walgreens! (yeah I had a few bad experiences!)

I had that problem with the Olay deal last week, it didn't want to print for anything. I was told a couple of times it was due to using coupons. However, I finally got a nice manager who knew that wasn't the problem and forced the machine to do it. On the Olay though it was an issue with prices not being right and some products not being in there. I was very, very, very ticked off with the RR last week, but this week the RRs have printed just fine, thankfully.
