WAG rant

I had quite a time at walgreens on Sat. First I tried to use my BOGO Razor coupon with the walgreens coupon, and the 2.00 off coupon. The cashier said they had to take any walgreens coupons first. Then when I gave her the BOGO razor coupon she wanted to put in 3.99 instead of 5.99 because I had used a walgreens coupon. I didn't understand why because I was under the impression that I can use a walgreens coupon with the mfc. coupon so i should get them for 5.99 off. She said well you're only paying 3.99 so I have to give it to you for 3.99. Then she saw the 2.00 off coupon and said she wasn't sure she could take that. I said I am using it on the one that I am buying and then I am using the second coupon to get them free. Since she wouldn't give me the 5.99 off I told her to cancel them because if they weren't free I didn't want them. Then she gets to my scrubbing bubbles coupon that is good on any item and it beeps not on file. The item was on clearance, and the coupon was not expired. She said she had to go talk to her manager (this is the fourth time she's gone to talk to her manager). she comes back and says okay it will work. Then we get to my colgate toothpaste. She reads the coupon and says this says advantage and these aren't advantage let me go ask my manager. She comes back and says they need to be advantage. So I go get 6 tubes of advantage and put the other ones back where I got them from. She rings them up and goes to scan the wags coupon. She says this says 6 oz and you got 5.8 oz. Well, there is no 6 oz. advantage back there. What does she say? Let me go ask my manager. She comes back and says no deal you have to get 6 oz. So I say forget it because I don't want them anymore. Then she gets to my candy bar coupons, and again we go through the whole it's .33 not .66 because you are using a wags coupon. I was like fine just ring them up. The coupon beeps and says not on file. She goes to talk to her manager again. The manager comes back with her this time. She says it's beeping because you can only use one. Obviously that's not it I tell her because this is the first one she rang up. she says she will overide it but only for one coupon. She says down here it says: ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE. Right I say, and I purchased nine candy bars, and am using 3 buy 2 get one free coupons. Well you can only use one per transaction. So I proceed to go on about the difference between one per purchase and transcation. Finally I say forget it I give up. On the counter is the razors I didn't want, the toothpaste I didn't want, and some other things. I bring reusable bags and I have already put the candy in them. So I start to toss the 9 candy bars and 9 bags of candy on the counter from my bag. The manager then starts to yell at me to stop throwing stuff at her. Excuse me? I am tossing them on the counter and there is a pyramid of stuff between where the candy bags are landing and you. Don't get loud with me she says. At this point I am so aggravated, and just want to finish up my transaction. I am still tossing the items on the counter and she is still yelling at me to stop throwing things at her. Then she says why don't you just not buy anything here today. I agree and say that's fine with me, and start to take everything else out of my bags. I am tossing all of the stuff on the counter now. She is telling me to get out, and I am telling her if she wants her s*** back then she will be patient. She says she is going to call the cops and have me arrested for assault. At first I just look at her in astonishment. She can't be serious nothing even touched her. Then I did what I shouldn't have done and I threw a bag of candy at her. That I said is throwing stuff at you, what I was doing before was tossing items up onto the counter. She is really pissed, and the cashier is like I can't believe you just threw stuff at my boss, I don't think we should accept you as a customer anymore. I told her not to worry I wouldn't be back. Then I left. I got into the truck where my mother and son had been waiting for 45 minutes with nothing. Mom agreed we wouldn't be going back there.

The cashier seemed annoyed from the get go. Me and my mom are big coupon shoppers. She has taught me everything. She had checked out before I did, so buy time I got to the checkout mom was finishing up. The cashiers at that store make me feel like I am doing something wrong by using coupons. I am a stay at home mom trying to raise my son the best I can, and I will save money wherever I can. If the mfc. didn't want us to use coupons they wouldn't put them out.

WHOA, now those are some mean people and I wouldn't go back there either!!! UGH what is with people??? Hope it goes better at the next one you go to :)

I should add that I went to another walgreens later that day. Cahsier whipped right through everything with no problems.

Wow, I thought I had horrible cashiers at the places I shop! Boy do you take the cake. You are absolutley right about cashiers getting all mad when they see us using coupons, they act as if the money is coming out of their pockets.
But think of it this way... In the end you get the last laugh when you save all that money from your coupons so just take it all in stride and don't let ignorant people upset you :)

even though some people will put you down on the last part of throwing the bag at her....but...i would have done the exact same thing if my nerves were that shot...grrr those kind of cashiers ticked me off too...don't worry don't ever go to that store and you will feel alot better :) i already have two stores on my donotgo list :) and i have been feeling better ever since.

I haven't called corporate. I wasn't sure if I should. I was in the wrong also. I should have never thrown the bag at her. After driving for an hour to go shopping, and having my 2 year old son throw a fit beacause he wants to go home, having the cashier having to check with her manager after every coupon, and then the manager saying she was going to have me arrested for assault when I hadn't done anything made me snap, and I threw the bag of Hershey's Kisses at her. I know people will put me down for having done that, and i accept that. I know it was wrong, and I felt bad afterward, but at that moment it felt so good. I worked in retail before my son was born, and I would never treat my customers the way some of these cashiers have treated me. One lady at rite-aid said oh god the coupon lady is back. My husband heard her. LOL.

I still would call. The only reason you threw the bag was because of their treatment of you. They upset and humiliated you...very unprofessional to treat a customer that way.

As for the threat of having you arrested for assualt...technically, they could have. Assault doesn't require actual physical contact (that's battery)...only the realistic fear that someone might hurt you (or in your case, hurl a honkin' bag of candy at your head! )

Personally, I don't blame you at all for what you did. Was it right? No, of course not, but we all have our limits. I probably would have just tipped my bag upside down and let it all fall on the floor for them to pick up. But that's me.
