Default Will Walgreens Be Implementing a New Coupon Policy? News @ 11!

Well, I went to Wags last night. The same store I went to yesterday morning; my favorite Wags. The management has always known what to do & has always trained the staff to know as well. My favorite Wags...ohhh, I feel like I'm planning a funeral!

Last night, there was a new AM on duty & he told me I could only use one manu q per transaction. Well, we got that worked out & then he commenced to tell me that he couldn't modify the face value of a coupon 1 penny. So I pulled the WAGS coupon policy BACK out...

But this was different. This was something that could change the world...

He said this came down from the DM, via Corp at approx. 3PM yesterday. I called my fave manager a few minutes ago & he verified it. They are starting in Kansas City & spreading this new rule like a deadly rash! Well, those weren't his exact words.

He said it's against the law to adjust a coupon & they would no longer be allowed to do it. No more 99 cent'ers, no more trial sizes, no more clearanced items. I asked if the item could be rung up 1 penny higher, but he said no. I'm completely stunned; in shock even. I'm not buying the headstone yet! I do intend to call Corp. Monday, but unless it's the DM that's gone off the deep end on a personal rage, then it's true. I don't think this store would up & do something like this. They've always been coupon-friendly.

He mentioned "coupon abuse" & how Wags was trying to put a stop to it. I have a few choice words for the way they see us couponers. They continue to change the rules to work against those of us that ethically, legally & morally get free items and/or good deals. If they would be HALF as concerned about those actually taking items off their shelves illegally, maybe we wouldn't NEED so many coupons to afford their products!

On a lighter note. He said, "Hope to see you soon." I said, "You will if I can actually find any coupons I can use there!"

UPDATED INFO 6/30/08

I just called Walgreens CS & the lady I spoke with couldn't even verify the new wording on the RR's She said it was one per transaction. She didn't know the new wording!

Oh my goodness! I asked her what the policy was on price modifying a coupon. She said she wasn't sure. (Meggers takes a deep breath)

I asked who the district manager was for the store in my original post. I got the DM's name & commenced to ask her to verify if this same DM also managed the 2 other stores that I've had trouble at. Sure enough...

But it wasn't that easy. The CS rep tried to get around verifying the DM's stores by saying ALL Wags have the same coupon policy per corps policy & all are aware of that policy. I just laughed in her face. Not a condescending laugh, but I was truly tickled. I reminded her that SHE can't even tell me the coupon policy. Lord help me this day!

DM is supposed to call me back...and here's the shocker: You may want to sit down for this; it's a female DM! No, really! I was so shocked to think ANY woman would be SO anti-coupon!

OMG!!!
I sure hope that isnt going to be the case - that would be horrible.
I can't imagine that manufacturers are going to agree to such draconian measures.
So we shall wait and see....let's just hang in there..

I wouldn't get so bent out of shape just yet. So many times from different stores, Managers, DM, AM have said that things were gonna happen and they don't. A friend of mine out of state said her DM had said that as of June 1 there won't be any more RR's. There are RR's this week!

I hope they're wrong! I hope it's just a disgruntled DM with a couponing ex-wife! And I hope I didn't leave the impression that this was written in stone. That was not my intention. I was more venting than anything & plan to call CS first thing Monday. I guess I am just getting real tired of rules changing everytime I get one memorized.

I wouldn't be so wired if it were some store I normally don't go to, but coming from this store, it really hit me that this could be it. The BIG ONE! Bent outta shape? Yeah, a little. I can't use a coupon for a trial sized product until MONDAY for cryin' out loud!

He said it's against the law to adjust a coupon & they would no longer be allowed to do it.

Ask for the statute number. Ask if it is a state or federal "law." I think they actually mean it violates the manufacturer's rules. To say, "It's against the law" gives you a great opportunity to pin them down to "which law."

This is the one that strikes me as funny.
Wow so I am going to have to check out 15 times if I have 15 coupons?
They better start hiring cause it will take us an hour to check out, not to mention order lots of register and catalina tape.

I would want to see the email. When Walgreens Corp. sends all of that out to someone as their policy or I see something on it I will believe it.

Just an FYI.........I JUST had a LONG discussion with our DM about this issue.......
1 store would adjust the price of the coupon down
1 store would adjust the price of the product up
1 store decided they would do neither.........hence the call to DM

DM said they should be adjusting the coupon down and that he would ensure everyone was on board with that.......

I just talked to my (couponin) friend that works for WG and she said they got an email saying they could longer use their ee discount and coupons. I told her that sounded kinda screwy to me (WM lets you use ee discount & coupons, right?). But her boss would let them, as long as the coupon does not cause overage after the ee discount. But she's told me that her store mgr doesnt like all the coupons because it counts against his sales, therefore bounus.
