    Won't Allow Overage

The assistant manager rang me up. Nice girl, I have seen her many times and she has helped me. She reluctantly told me that since so many people are using coupons they had a meeting regarding their store policy. No more coupons for items that are cheaper than the coupon. She let me buy 10 Bandaids but seemed to indicate this was last time. She said she didn't understand why and couldn't explain it very well. I told her they were getting the dollar back from the manufacturer so I didn't understand why they cared so much. I may have to go to another WGs.:frown:

That's really sad, especially when you found a wags that you liked and liked you. At least she gave you a heads up. I think the managers really need better training on coupons. They get their money back so what's the big deal to them?

UGH! I don't get it. They get the money, they just apparently don't like coupons.

I had a manager tell me that he was personally against coupon users cause they twisted the words on the coupons & tried to get something for nothing & he would NOT lower the price of the coupon. I just said, "thank you for sharing your feelings with me, sir. I'll just take my business elsewhere."

I told him outright that I wouldn't be calling corp on him cause I didn't like that store anyway, but that someone else would eventually.

When the first WG came to our area, I had a cashier call the manager over because I had overage. I really did not realize it and am always willing to pick up something to cover overage. She told the cashier to give me the overage in cash because WG got full coupon value back. Oh, for the few days of the knoweledgable managers when a new store is in the area!

Have them price adjust the coupon down to the actual item price. If they refuse, call the DM. That's what I/we did for our district. A lot of our stores were telling us the same thing.

Using a coupon that is above the item price (like Band-Aids this week being .99 and the coupon being for $1) IS NOT COUPON FRAUD.

You are right. They are still getting reimbursed. Call your district office. Phone numbers can be found on the Walgreens website and you will be directed to your office depending on where you live.

There is also a *vendor coupon* key on the register. This is where the cashier manually enters the price of the coupon WITHOUT even scanning it.

    GL!

P.S. We used to get overage at our stores but now the coupons that exceed the item price DO beep. It's easier for me to tell them to adjust the coupon down rather than having the coupon beep and them refusing to accept it.

Is this considered coupon fraud on their part? I mean putting .99 cents but getting $1 from the manufacturer.

I just wish using coupons wasn't considered "unacceptable" by some. Like I'm a "bad" person for trying to save money! It is absurd.

So I'm still learning with Wags myself. I am trying to get the bandaids this week, I have $1 off coupon..if I have something else to cover overage (which i am planning on getting other things) Should I have a problem? Or is it still going to beep?

I did the Bandaid deal this week. I bought 4 bandaids and 3 foils. The first three bandaids scanned fine, the last one scanned and beeped saying there was no product for it. The cashier check the bag and keyed it in. No idea why that happened. She was very nice about it, oh and this was the same walgreens where I was told I could only use 1 coupon for each like item even if I have 5 items, only 1 coupon. The rules are ever changing and I just started.

Just reassure her that it is ok you can always price match at walmart and get it free with overage. Encourage her to do the same. That is what I started doing at my store now they suddensly started allowing overage a few months ago.
