ATTENTION Register Rewards Talk--UPDATE

I talked to Walgreens Customer Service and finally got an answer.
RR Can Not be used to buy gift cards. I could not get her pinned down on the wording may exclude. She kept telling me they said they exclude giftcards. I asked how was I the average customer suppose to know what was excluded and included, again her reply No giftcards. I finally gave up.
soooo No giftcards.
IF your store manager/store allows it....... keep it to yourself and don't post that.

I am anxious to see what they print starting week 5/18 as another poster got a email from Walgreen advertising and he said it will be more laid out starting that week.
If they have the same wording I would suggest we all email Walgreen to find out how we the average customer is suppose to know.

I need to talk to ya'all about RR's and using them on giftcards/walgreen giftcards.
Some of you are posting about using them on the above.
It is against HCW policy to use a coupon/RR/ ect on anything other then what they are intended for.
Some Store Managers allow it.....That's Great!!!!! but we can not have it discussed here at HCW as it is still a violation.

Posting about unethical activities and/or direct violations of store policies
*To learn about store policies, read the sticky threads in the appropriate store forum or contact the store's corporate office

Posting about using coupons in a fraudulent manner or in a way that goes against store policy
*Our policy against fraudulent usage of coupons can be found HERE. To learn about store policies, read the sticky threads in the appropriate store forum or contact the store's corporate office.

Please no more discussion of using RR's on anything other then they are intended, reguardless of if your Store Manager allows it. It's against HCW policy. We will no longer have any tolerance for such posts, any future posts discussing this is going to get a w/i.

So if the RR says that it "may not" allow it, does that mean its allowed or not? does it vary by state?

We are working on that, and hope to hear back from walgreens soon on the answer.
We will let you know once we find out anything.

Our main concern is if they say Not to be used on any giftcards/ or not to be used on Walgreen giftcards, then please don't.
If your Store Manager allows it....please don't discuss it.

Thank you for clarifying. I'm pretty new and didn't catch that rule in all the lurking I've done. I'm glad to know what I can and can't do. I want this ride to continue!

there are other WAG employees in other boards that said

some cashiers have been written up for loading RRs into GCs or allowing people to buy any GCs with them since the new restrictions were printed in RRs. one said that after 3 warnings, the cashier is fired. I am just relaying info as I've read it.

if you have good relations with your cashiers/stores I'm sure many would not want their favorite cashiers/AMs fired just to accommodate them. according to the employee, it doesn't mean that if the register allowed it that it is okay. they still have records of it and the cashier will still get reprimanded for it.

Just something for us to consider if our cashiers are nice and friendly.

Agreed. Folks, please keep in mind that the transaction is not over just because you've walked out the door. Mistakes happen, but deliberately misusing the RRs again and again hurts us ALL.

Any updates on the wording "may" - all of mine say that and I am in TOTAL agreement, do not want ANYTHING bad to happen to anyone, even if by accident - BUT would love to roll them if it's legit! Thanks so much for the coming clarification!

I'm confused - slightly - it's in the wording - RR says: "may not be used to purchase gc" - I already purchased WITH CASH a GC and want to reload it............. IF my cashier permits it; is it permissible. It is NOT clear from the RR wording; in fact, my paralegal eyes read it as being permitted. I am sure WAGs has its own opinion. Please post when/if you find out.

Just to clarify... are you describing a situation in which the RRs clearly said NOT to be used on giftcards, or are you talking about the RRs that say they MAY exclude giftcards?

she didn't mention if it was from previous restrictions on the RR that specifically excluded WAG GCs or the new one that just say MAY exclude GCs.
