RR = Register Rewards

Get A Walgreens Ad and find the items that need to be purchased to get Register Rewards. This weeks ad is Kellogg's items, cereal, pop tarts, NutraGrain Bars, Cheez-its, etc. Example:

buy 4 kelloggs cereal, 4 poptarts, buy 2 pens on sale for .09 cents,
scan store coupon for pens, scan kelloggs coupons if you have some total out, pay and 2 $5 RR will print. Plus there is a form you can send in to get $10 mail in rebate ( MIR ). Cereal, poptarts and pens for under $2. great deal. 8-9-2008 is the last day for the kellogg's RR's

All Catalinas are definitely not created equal. I did the Olay deal at one store, didn't get a RR, requested the manager, was given the "you used manuf coupons" line. Took my stuff, but was going to call the Catalina number later.

As I was walking out the lady in line after me chased me down. MY RR printed as soon as they started ringing her order!

Now, I always stay an extra minute or two to see if any of MY RR print during the next person's order!

Yeah, unfortunatley the catalina machines are both a blessing and a curse, and they keep getting adjusted to become more fair- but in doing so they also become more frustrating to both the cashiers and the customers. If RR's don't print- Call a manager. 98% of the time they will help you out if they can. Unfortunatley the only thing we can usually assume as to why they don't print is if manf coupons are used (usually in relation to a Spend $ RR as opposed to a Buy # RR), and since sometimes they do and sometimes they don't- there's no knowing until the first couple times it rings through on a register- and even then they're still sometimes inconsistent. IE. I had someone buy the Kellogg cereal with a $5 RR and it spit it out- 10 minutes later I had another customer buy some with a $3 RR and it didn't. Why? We never did figure it out.

I'm new here and this may be old news, but I just had a run-in at Walgreens with my RR's from the Kellogg's deal a couple weeks ago. I had two of the $5 ones and tried to use them both on a single $11 transaction today, but it wouldn't go through because they claim that only one per manufacture is allowed at a time. I got the manager and explained that the RR itself doesn't say anything about that but he still refused to let me use them unless I split my order. I just walked out because I only had two items, $7.99 and $2.79 and I would have paid more for one and forfeited some of the value of the other if I had done that.

Did you happen to use any manufacturer coupons on your items?

Yes, $1 on the $8.99 item. I said $7.99 in my first post because I wanted to show that the adjusted value was still over $10. However, the manager said that wasn't the problem, but rather that both RR's were from Kelloggs. Seems to me they should be treated as cash rather than coupons so they don't get assigned to the number of products purchased. Like I said, I'm still learning the ropes here so I'll be more specific next time I have a gripe!

You had 2 products and 1 coupon on the $8.99 item. So, you should have only been allowed to use 1 RR (which is considered MQ) unless you had a filler item that was not attached to any coupons.
Since you wanted to use 3 MQ, you needed 3 items.

I thought that might be part of it so I asked about adding a candy bar after I knew I wasn't getting anywhere. He said it wouldn't change anything because both RR's were still from Kelloggs, so he never even tried it. Thanks though, I'll defintely keep it in mind next time.

Default Re: Register Rewards Talk--UPDATE

radionut, I would recommend contacting the Regional/District Manager to determine what their policy is regarding RR use. Before the wording was changed recently, that was the policy- 1 per transaction (per denomination/promo). But now, it's supposed to be one MQ per item purchased and RRs are considered MQ. Store Managers do have the authority to restrict coupon use/ enforce limits at their stores, however. Sounds like your store's manager is determined to only accept 1 per transaction.
Try the DM and then find another store in your area with a store manager with some coupon sense.

Do expiration dates on RR 'roll'? What I mean is, I noticed that on one that I got yesterday, it expires 9/1, and one that I got today, it expires 9/2. So would a RR printed on Friday expire 9/5? Just curious, because it could be a good strategy...

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere before. I searched this thread for "expiration date" and didn't get anything.
