It's funny, I snagged a few bags of the Dove dark chocolate that were hidden behind the Kitkats at Target (haha!) for $.31 each, then went to walgreens and the same bag, it looks like fall, has orange/red/brown leaves on it, is in one of those "center aisle bins" with a $3.49 price tag. eek!

Even funnier, I ventured a bit through the c'mas candy section, and a lot of it, I recognized from the halloween displays, different types than they normally carry and obviously "fall" but not necessarily halloween-decorations. Very sneaky. They rang up full-price too. hmmph.

I'm in Houston, TX I asked about the clearance yesterday at the Walgreens I shop at. Was told it was just put away for Christmas and afterwards would come back out. The person who told me should know, not the manager but some other higher than the cashiers. She was also nice enough to supply me with the Walgreens BF ad and the ad for Thursday, Friday and Saturday!!

    Ok I found the answer
Walgreens stores now are allowed to clearance regular items to 50% on shelf. Its up to each district manager whether a clearance shelf will exist however they are being pushed towards no. This is a trial run situation. In rare extremities such as the halloween candy the stores can ask permission for further markdowns on whatever cannot be sent back. Our manager just got back from paternity leave (his wife had a baby not him) and kinda explained. He said it is pure torcher on the stores. It is supposed to be effective on all stores.

I have NEVER found a good clearance price on anything at my local WG. The max seems to be 50%, most stuff is a lousy 20% off. It often sits on the clearance cap for 6 months or more as a result. That is just one reason why I haven't gone there in 6 months (that and poor stock, miserable cashiers etc.).
