Question about the Beauty Counter at Walgreens

In my closest Walgreens where I usually go, the cashier at the beauty counter is always really helpful...as soon as someone walks in the she asks if you need help, and when she is done helping she always said "Check out at the beauty counter when you are ready!"

Well, I went in a different Walgreens today and it was the same way.

Is there something special for the cashier if more people check out at the beauty counter?

I'm not complaining....just curious!!!

Yes, there is a bonus or comission deal for them when you buy HBA products-- not real sure what they get. My 2 stores are always like that AND the full time gals that work the beauty counter are so coupon friendly, ask questions about how they can do it too, and dont mind if I do multiple transactions at their reg. cause there is also something about the number of transactions they ring up that helps them , too. Me and my beauty advisor s have a great relationship!I always check out at hte beauty counter.

But one additional thing with the full-time beauty counter cashier-- she has her own expandable file coupon organizer that she keeps behind the counter and offers Qs to all of "her" regular customers whenever they want/need them (yep, that includes me- LOL)!

They make what is called PM's ( promotional monies )
They make money off off certain items they sell, such as makeup, cologne, certain items off the skincare wall.
They have suggestive sell items they make money off off ( usually these sit on the cosmetic counter )
Not for sure how long it last but if they sell Tim McGraw cologne they get $5.00 ( not sure if all sizes or certain ones ).
The more she sells, the more PM's that go on her check.

There is also some stuff about # of customers, $ amount they ring up ect ect.
So do help your Beauty Advisors out and check out with them in the Cosmetic Dept

Really...? Thats great ..during my last visit that was when we had 10/40 i did get some cosmetics and the cosmetic counter cashier was very eager to check out but i was not yet done so i told her i will come back once i am done with my shopping (ie total of 40$) but when i had finished she was not there i mean the manager had called her and she was busy..she is really nice.Next time i will try checking out at her counter.thanks for your advice irishlass

Our beauty counter is not always open - I guess our store just doesn't get that busy.

But I did notice that when I grabbed one of the Chemistry FAR items, it had "Check out at the Cosmetic Counter" stickers all over it. Anybody else have this? Well, I didn't check out at the beauty counter because nobody was there to check me out! :)

The only two cashiers I like work at the beauty couter and they are both very nice. They are two older ladies and I think there the only two Beauty Counter people but I always check out there unless one of them is at the front which happens sometimes.

I too have better "luck" with the cashiers at the beauty counter. They usually love ringing up my items and watching the price go down down down with all my coupons. Dani is my favorite, she is awesome.

These are examples of PM's they always receive (unless they're on an advertised sale price)

L'oreal and H.I.P : 3%

Physicians Formula : *forgot*
Rimmel : *forgot*

A large amount of the W brand HBA products also pay a 5% pm, such as the Minoxidil and W brand lotions.

L'oreal Revitalift Serum (FAR) : ...forgot but it's about 80¢
Cover Girl Lash Blast : forgot...
Pantene Beautiful Lengths ($5 rebate on 2) : forgot...

Huh, I thought I remembered a lot of these and then I started typing and realized I don't remember a lot of the PM amounts! Oh well gives you an idea...they do get it on lots of items and it's really nice of you to ring up with them. They've been paying PM's on a lot of the FAR items lately so that's a really big plus for the BA's!

They do also have sales goals they try to meet. Certain dollar amounts, certain % of the red zone sales (that is a % of the total amount of cosmetic items sold in the store that day, rang at their register), certain customer counts to reach.

Most BA's do have coupons, not only coupons that they cut out of the paper, but also a lot of companies send coupons out specifically to the BA's to get customers to purchase products.

All beauty advisors have a daily "PM" goal. Mine is at least $20 everyday, and I'm able to meet that goal with the help of my awesome customers!
