It'd been a long time since I'd been confronted with the "two like" limit but I was out of town yesterday and got hit with it from an unfamiliar checker. Here's an e-mail I sent to customer relations today:
I was told by a checker that it's VONS (Safeway) policy to only accept two "like" manufacturers coupons. How does that jive with the small lettering on the back page of your weekly circular that states "limit one coupon per purchased item?" You do go on to state, "we reserve the right to limit quantities for retail sales." Surely, when you advertise 10/10 or buy 3,4,5 of the same item to get the sales price, you aren’t limiting a retail sale to two like items? Non- doubled coupons have always been accepted at face value. Please clarify this issue. Thanks, Patrick

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the coupon policy at your local Vons store.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. In order to insure that we accept only legitimate printable Internet coupons, Vons has adopted the following store policies and guidelines. These policies and guidelines are company wide.

1. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that do not have a manufacturer's bar code or manufacturer's redemption instructions.

2. We will accept any printable Internet coupons only if they scan properly at checkout.

3. We will not accept more than one "copy" of the same printable Internet coupon per customer.

4. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons for a Free Product (other than a "Buy One Get One Free Offer" that requires a purchase of the like item)

5. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons for more than a $5.00 value or for more than 50% of a product's retail price, whichever of the two is lower.

6. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that do not have an easy to read expiration date or that extend more than 12 weeks. (Most printable Internet coupons may expire 30-45 days after you print them)

7. We will not accept any printable Internet coupons that appear out of proportion, appear blurry, or are obvious duplicates.

8. Any printable Internet coupons that appear to have been altered in any way may be rejected. Printable Internet coupons are nearly always printed using the same technology and therefore have a standard format, with very specific security features, including a unique serial code.

Additionally, Vons Coupon Policy states:

All Manufactures' coupons will be accepted subject to the terms on the coupon with the following exceptions:

1. All coupons will be redeemed at face value. Only one manufacturer's coupon will be accepted per item. Manufacturers' coupons duplicated in any form will not be accepted.
2. Liquor, tobacco, fresh fluid milk products, competitors' manufacturer, in-store demo and free coupons (including "buy one, get one free; or free groceries with a specified purchase) will be redeemed at face value.
3. Limited to sales in retail quantities only.
4. Any requests to redeem competitor coupons are left to the discretion of the store management.
5. Applicable sales tax will be charged on all manufacturers' coupons.

We apologize if you were inconvenienced in any way by this policy. Please realize that our policy is in no way a reflection on you our valued customer. We had to enact strict guidelines in an effort to combat an increasing number of counterfeit coupons. Your comments have been forwarded to our Marketing Department for further review. there is a policy that is in place at my Vons on competitors coupons..that in clude the catalina too.

..AGain the store Director alway has the ;last say wheather he know the answer or not .:sad:.#2 ,4 ....ck with your Vons make sure they aware of this policy......& following it..

Wacky Mac pasta $1-50cq 5/16ss or 3/14ss (also some printables floating around) = Free (if your Vons doubles).
Maruchan Yakisoba 89c-$1/2q5/16ss = 39c

Also if you missed the Ziploc bag deal last week, Vons has a Hefty storage/freezer bag deal $1.25 wyb 4. Use the $1/2ip from coupons.com to get each box for 75c! This deal ends June 19.
