Vons - Only two "like" coupons???

My Vons just started a new policy: they will only allow me to use two like coupons (not just IPs, but ANY like coupons!) They're also watching to make sure that you don't go through the line twice. :sad:


I don't understand the reason for this policy, since my understanding was that they got reimbursed for the coupons. So why not take ten? :shrug7:

Anyway, if anyone can help me understand this, I'd be grateful.

Vons really sucks, in my opinion. And if complaining about using only two "like" coupons was not enough, the last time I was there, I was told that if I'm using coupons for a "FREE" item or a $1 coupon on an item that is on sale for $1, I can only use ONE!!!! That was the manager telling me that. I'm like, WHAT???

I always wait for them to have the Buy 2 get 3 free Coke products sale because I save my coupons from My Coke Rewards (Free one 12-pack coupon), but now, I won't be expecting the transaction to go smoothly. I very *RARELY* go there now, just because it's not worth the stress of arguing about a coupon to get a freebie or a cheapie.

I don't understand why Vons would put further limits on their existing coupon policy. It makes no sense. :shrug7: They do get reimbursed for each coupon that is redeemed and so what is a few extra coupons per customer?

Since I rarely shop there as it is, I am not sure if this is something that is going to be occuring in all Vons stores, or just a select few. I'm wanting to lean towards a select few because for the most part, the District Manager can give each Store Manager the leeway to tighten/loosen up their own stores coupon policies based on the area and store competition.

In my area, we have a Walmart that is slowly converting over to a Super Walmart. If this particular Vons chooses to tighten their coupon policy and further limit coupon usage, they will lose most of their customers to Walmart. Not a good thing considering that Walmart and Vons are in the same shopping plaza.

Unfortunately, it is the rules to ony accept two like coupons. I have seen it in writing at the checkstand:sad:. As for the other rules, I am not sure. I have emailed Vons to get a clear cut set of policies, we'll see what happens. My guess is that managers seem to be enforcing their own rules, and maybe that is acceptable to Vons. Once I find out I will post a sticky to let everybody know.

I do think they are getting stricter with coupons because of a few people that take advantage of the system. They clear out store inventory leaving nothing for others :sad:. They might have their reasons for clearing the shelves, but I think it's common courtesy to let other people get in on the deals too! Oh well, that's my opinion anyways, not sayiing it's right:shrug7:

The rules at Vons are strict on the 2 like Qs has been already enforced on me gosh a while back ago when I was doing the granola deal. The nature valley deal and I was only going in 1x per day and had to change it up to not have him pee in his pants. I guess its just not worth the hassle hence why I have no been watching the deals here. Where is this new Super Walmart that you mentioned about.

It's in Oceanside off the 76. Its not quite done yet, but the shelves, freezer bins, etc. are installed and ready to be marked and filled with grocery items. Usually I can't stand shopping at that particular Walmart, but I actually can't wait for this one to finish its conversion.

It's a YMMV from store to store. I have 5 stores pretty close. 1 has the 2 coupon limit written at the checkstand. At 3 of them, most cashiers pretty strictly enforce a limit of 3. And 1 of them has no limit, but 'reserves the right to limit.'

So, If two like coupons, then it two like coupons per person.
Your kids are a separate person.

IF you can make separate purchase, you an use more than the 2 like coupons when it extremely necessary and necessity per person.

I went to Vons this morning and I agree with all of you. Vons is no longer on my list of places to shop!!! The one in Victorville anyway. I have never had any problems with the one in Murrieta. In Victorville, the cashier doesn't even start bagging my groceries until she has gone through every coupon to make sure they match. And they won't take any stator bros "manf coupons" anymore. What a waste of time this morning was for me.

Many Vons are known to be Coupon ****s! Pavilions seem a little better than Vons.

Vons in Harbor blvd in Costa Mesa, CA will pretty much call any IP coupon a photocopy. They pretend to go to manager who just backup the employees.
