Vons - Only two "like" coupons???

Here is an email I received regarding their policy, FYI. I think it's just horrible. But what can you do, except maybe shop somewhere else that doesn't have so many rules

Dear Ms. _________:

Thank you for your reply regarding the coupon policy, the answers are as follows:

1.) This policy applies to all Vons stores nationwide.

2.) Use of manufacturers' coupons are limited to TWO (2) coupons on the same TWO (2) ITEMS PER ORDER, PER HOUSEHOLD, PER WEEK including BOGO (Buy one get one) offers and limited to retail sales only.

3.) The value of the coupon is set by the manufacturer and usually does not exceed 50% of the value. Due to this we do not accept coupons that allow you to get the item for free, unless it is a BOGO coupon.

4.) It is up to the managers discretion to accept coupons and in certain store the policy may be stricter due to continued coupon abuse by "select groups".

5.) Double Coupons is a promotion that is available for a limited time. This promotion is for manufacturer coupons only. The double discount does not apply to Vons/Pavilions store coupons or any other in-store coupons. Limit of 1 double manufacturer coupon discount per like item.

Coupons that exceed the value of the items can only be doubled up to the actual retail value of that item. Except as advertised, coupons that require the purchase of multiple items are excluded. Customers will get double the value of the manufacturer coupon UP TO $1.00. For example, if the coupon is for $.70 it will only be doubled to $1.00

I got two Vons close to me one the closer one is ok depends on the cashier I guess ,and the other one is a little further away is kind strict.

This morning I went to this strict one for hefty and the cashier I belived he was a manager or somthing . I brought 8 boxes only hefty and he asked me right away how many coupons? he only accepted 3 coupons . so I ended got only 4 hefty with only 3 coupons anyway. its still good deal.but thinking that 1 coupon didn't get use cost me 4 boxes of hefty.

Well I just thankful to be bale to get 3 instead of 2 .

yeah I agree that Vons is being the last choice.

So clearly we're all upset about it...but does anyone know the reasoning behind the policies? That's what I'm really trying to figure out.

I went to the Vons in Murrieta and I don't have any problems with them at all. I really like going to that one. I saved $72.00 and got 20 cents off my gas.

The reasoning simple:

The corporate politically correct:

• I don't want one person to buy out all the inventory.
• Coupon Fraud

Behind the Scenes Reasons

• Coupon Fraud-Mostly from exaggerate stories from same small incident of coupon fraud
• Coupons deprive the store profitability
• Coupons affect their raises
• Other coupon user and Coupon myths and negative perceptions

Note: Coupon Fraud does exist but it minuscule compare external and internal theft. Most retailers experience more losses to internal theft than other factors.

One big note: Supermarket become more profitable with better inventory management and reduce waste. I remember talking to Ralph's Manager during jury duty, supermarket typically throw away 10-33% of perishable like veggies, fruits, meats and seafood.
