Vons Trip - 9/12

Not much is going on in this forum, so I wanted to mention some of my better buys tonight.... Hopefully some of you can get in on them...

I made it to VONS tonight.... I wanted to see was I was missing =)

I also made it into Ralphs, but the only thing I saw that I "had" to have was some green grapes at .88/lb. Good price and they were the large plump ones that are my favorite! =)

I got enough stuff for (2) of the "Buy 5 Save $5" deals, but only (1) $5 came off... and I was so happy that I saved 95% that I didn't notice it until I was driving away (stopped at the stoplight scouring over my receipt!!).... so I'll have to go back tomorrow after the soccer game and get my other $5.

I spent $7.46 & saved $98.29 - BUT I also earned $9.50 in Catalina Q's good on my next order =)
I realized I made another mistake too.... that cost me $1.48.... live & learn - duh!
Always STICK TO THE PLAN! LOL!!

Some of the better deals....

I got (3) Nature Valley bars @ $2.50 ea. & (2) Fiber One bars @ $2.99 ea. I got the (2) Fiber One bars instead, because I had (2) different Q's and they each would be doubled, so I thought I was doing good... because I ended up with these 5 items, I had (4) unique Q's and 1 duplicate.... then save $5 off instantly because of the "Buy 5 Save $5" promo... well, I DID get the 5 granola bars for what ended up being $3.98 (Before my 10% discount).... I DID end up getting a $1.50 Catalina Q good on my next order (So, in essence they net out to $2.48 for 5 boxes).... but I would've gotten the $3.50 Cat (duh)... if I would've gotten (5) Nature Valley bars instead of (3) NV bars & (2) Fiber One bars... but I wanted to use all the different coupons.... and I forgot about the Catalina deal at that time.... If I would've gotten (5) NV bars (and no Fiber One ones), they would've cost me $4.50 OOP and I would've gotten a $3.50 Catalina...so net $1. So my mistake cost me $1.48...not a huge deal.... but if I would've done it correctly and my other $5 would've came off correctly (ugh!)... then my total would've been closer to $1 !! Much better! LOL

Anyway....I'll go get my $5 tomorrow... and I'll do the NV Catalina deal again and do it CORRECT this time!! I think I have (5) more NV Q's. Oh yes..... be sure and check out the www.bettycrocker.com and/or www.pillsbury.com websites because they have printable Q's for the Nature Valley bars. I have some .60 off 1 Q's that I printed out 2 weeks ago. It looks like they are $1 off 2 Q's now.... but that's still .50 off each box!!

ALSO - There is a Hallmark card deal.... Buy 4 cards, save $5 off groceries INSTANTLY!! ....the cards need to be the ones that are $1.99+ OR the Halloween cards!! It's been reported elsewhere that the "regular" .99 Warm Wishes ones don't work for this Save $5 deal.... but that the Halloween .99 cards do!! So I tried it tonight (Guniea Pig Jen) .... I got (4) .99 HALLOWEEN cards that DO NOT say "Warm Wishes" on the back, and I did get my $5 off. So, I made $1 on that deal. The cards cost me $4, but I saved $5 =) I'll be doing that one again! I love Halloween cards!! There is a limit of ONE deal per transaction. So you can do it over & over, but only once per transaction!!

AND.... if you have anymore $4 Glade Oil Warmer Q's that expire tomorrow (9/13), they are on sale at Vons for $3.99....and with every one that you buy, you earn a $2 Catalina Q good on your next order!! Yes... Two more FREE dollars (if you use the $4 Q's to get your Glade's for free)....

Let's see, what else....

Aunt Jemima syrup is on sale for $2.99 until Sunday @11:59pm.... AND it's included in the Buy 5 Get $5 promo.... AND there's a recent Q for Save $1 off 2. It won't double, but that brings the syrup down to $2.49 each... and if you work the promo into it, that's like taking another $1 off each one!! If you bought 5 syrups and used (2) Save $1/2 Q's... after the promotion deducted, it would cost $1.59 ea. Good deal on Aunt Jemima syrup!

I'm not sure why the 2nd $5 didn't come off my order (can you tell I'm irritated?). People reported doing 3 & 4 deals in one transaction and the $15 or $20 would come off.... for my (2) deals I did:

(2) Fiber One bars & (3) NV bars and the other deal was
(1) Kix cereal & (2) Aunt Jemima syrup & (2) Crystal Light containers... all of these items had tags, so I'll have to go figure it out tomorrow. =P

Also, the Zone bars are on sale for $1 each and there were $1 Q's in last weeks paper.... FREE Zone bars!!

Betty Crocker cake/cookie mix/muffin mix, etc. are 40% off this week... Nothing too great after coupons, except... the Betty Crocker microwave cake bowls are $1.50 each (Mini's are $1.99) and there is a .50 Q out... so doubled, you can get a BC microwave cake bowl for 50 cents. Remember only 1 "like" coupon will double though, so don't try & load up in one transaction! LOL

jennifer- saying thank you seems inadequate- i came home with 10 warmers- which i will trade for veggies at farmers market, 2 bags of raisins, and one little beef jerky bag- for 46 or maybe 56 cents oop.

I took the last 4 Glade Warmers from 2 store & the last 7 from another store.... I have 2 more Q's left.... I wonder if I'll make it out again? My allergies are acting up, so we'll see. I also got my $5 back for the "Buy 5 Save $5 More" promo that didn't come off. No big deal. Then I did the deal again on the NV bars this time... I did it right this time... and it all worked out great!! Got all kinds of goodies and I still have $21 in cats!!

I just Googled "Vons Los Angeles Times sweepstakes" and the first link was to a page that allows you to subscribe to the Los Angeles Times four-day delivery program (Thursday-Sunday, I believe) for $39 a year (pretty good deal!), and if you do, you'll receive a free $20 Vons gift card, plus you'll be automatically entered to win a year's supply of groceries. (The page doesn't say what exactly that means.)

I already have seven-day delivery of the Times, so I was glad to see that you could click on a "No, thanks, just enter the sweepstakes" button and submit my information.

The page says the offer ends October 4.

I called the LA times yesterday and told them about it and they said I could enter and they would adjust my subscription to the new amount. Instead of paying whatever I was paying for a year. They said they would adjust it to the $39.99 plus I could get the $20.00 gift card to Vons. It will take 6-8 weeks to receive. But still $19.99 for a year of LA Times. Not bad.
