    HOT UPDATED!! Contacting Vons about SSM

    I contacted vons via email over a week ago. I was explaining that I am confused over this promotion as the items that are tagged are not generating the promised $$ coupons. I have been hearing that those of you who have called are being redirected to catalina.

    NO WHERE on my store ad does it say "THIS IS A CATALINA PROMOTION"

    I told them in my email that they are promoting this deal and am finding that this could possibly be FALSE ADVERTISING!!:question1:

    I told them I EXPECTED to hear back from them!!

    It has been a week .... and not a word back. :shrug7:

    So far every time (only twice so far) there has been an issue the managers have given me the money due ... after a 15 minute review.

    I truly cannot believe the total disregard to culpability that Vons is claiming for a promotion they are ADVERTISING!!

    They absolutely will NOT be getting away with this when I shop there. I want to see where in FINE PRINT it says I cannot use a coupon to purchase my item ... I want to see where in the fine print it say "only the blue tag items, except where we made a mistake and mistagged it"

    Just a suggestion to all ... here is the key phrase to use when coming up against a grocery store bully.

    I am starting to think that Vons is using false advertising when it comes to this promotion. Did you know that it is illegal? I really need your help to make this right.

    Excuse my rant I guess I feel really bad for everyone that has been taken advantage of by Vons.



    I decided to shoot for the moon. I emailed them AGAIN and this time I CC'd my dear hubby (he works at a law firm ... and his email addy includes the firms name). Guess what? They emailed back!! I will update again. But what I did make clear to them is that they really needed to clearly post the terms and conditions of this promotion including a list of items in the promotion in either their ads or online. They recommended that I call the 877 number (LOL). I said it would do me no good to tell the manager in the store "but the person on the phone told me so". I do not think that it is wrong, as a matter of fact I think it is a necessity, that when Vons and other companies are having a "promotion" that they clearly state the terms, conditions and products in the promotion.
    Time to get off my soap box.

    What's your two cents on the matter?

    I'm sorry but this is hilarious. Maybe it's all the smilies?

    Safeway, Vons, Randall's are notorious for running catalina promotions that never work correctly. Sometimes, it really is worth the effort. Mostly, not.

    I will be lured in with buy a certain number of the same product or brand get X off your order instantly. Those are easy to point to the ad and say, "see it says.." and the cashiers usually will take care of it. I do not go in for catalina deals.

    One time, I was buying 2 frozen items that generated a 5 OYNO. Well, the product price was ringing up wrong. I went in everyday for my one free item (scan right guarantee) and my 5 OYNO. I eventually called corporate with my concern. They never fixed it. Two different stores couldn't bother to change the tag or the price even after my call to corporate. I realized they couldn't sync prices or products with catalina deals. The item had a dot next to it, indicating it was on sale, but no sale price.

    KUDOS for standing your ground. Take it to the top for me.

    Yes this week does not look promising.
    I just got back from walking the aisles and
    the Mission chips have a red tag so it will most likely cause a problem with the cat.
    It is in the ad but does not have a blue tag.
    I did stop ant tell the lady in charge of the tags and she said she would call it in.
    It is sad when the customers know more about what should be going on than the store staff.
    Also I have worked very hard to get the end dates and prices only for them to change before the original end date posted. Example Hansons soda is now $2.50 each not $2 each.
    I did not see any new deals that I felt were deals at all.
    My feeling is last week will probably be the best week for the promo. We will need to wait and see what they do for the 3rd week.
    The amount of time I had to put into this to make it work earned me every discount I got. They are not giving me anything! There is no need for attitude from staff or any reason for poor customer service.
    They advertised it they must honor it.

    The Mission tortilla chips will work.. I bought the big bags when they were 3.00 all last week and only got 25 items and my cat printed every time. I only go by the list that someone put in excel and I put it in alphabetical order by product and I have received the catalina every time. I know it is frustrating, but to me it is worth it. I only go by the list and not the tags in the store. The mission tortilla chips that will work are triangles (07373103463) rounds (07373103462) strips (07373103461).. Hope this helps...

    yeah, i went yesterday and rolled my 1st 20.00 cat. i got the 25 items plus a few extra they all had tags but only the 10.00 cat printed. I just went over to customer service and they gave me the 10.00 difference. It seemed to me like they knew this promo has been pain in the butt for them as well as us.

    Basically Vons works inconnection with the Catalina corp. If Vons won't make it work in store, then take it up with the Catalina corp.

    The Mission chips aren't tagged in my stores either, but then again neither are the Tava's. I thnk I'll be stocking up on the Mission chips though if it works for Bobbie!!

    I had a great run last night - got my 72 items (not all SSM items) for 59 cents (after applying my $20 Catalina... and I got another $20 Catalina. I always buy at least 27 items, just in case. I don't want to worry about any boo-boo's or miscalculations!!

    I'm working on getting my Q's ready for my next 5 runs!!

    Bobbie have you done this promo with just the list and UPC's?
    If so are you saying that even products without blue tags that are on the list as long as the UPC's match will work?
    This promo is starting to make me crazy so please let me know.

    Any advice? I bought my 25 blue tag items. No catalina. Clerk went through the store to check my entire list, yes, it was correct. Told me to call number on bottom of receipt. Woman at corporate told me to hold while she contacted store manager. He told me to come in. I did, all he did was hand me the Olympics coupon booklet. ARGH!!!! Thanks! Lisa
