    Default need a recipe for canned yams....

    Ive never cooked yams before.
    Does anybody have any easy but good recipes including canned yams?

    This is one of my most favorite dishes.

    Sweet Potato Crunch

    1 large can sweet potatoes
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup milk
    2 eggs
    2 tbsp valilla flavor
    1/4 stick butter, melted

    topping
    1 cup flour
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 stick of butter, melted
    nuts

    Mix sweet potatoes, sugar, milk, and eggs. Beat together. Add valilla and butter, mix together. Pour into 9 x 13 dish. Mix flour, brown sugar, buter and nuts. Add to top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown.

    If you buy the Sugary Sam Yams, there is a recipe on the can that is awesome. It is very simple and delicious. It is called Praline Yams. Give it a try.

    This is a recipe I have bookmarked (from Cooks.com) that I use sometimes:

    Millie's Sweet Potato Casserole
    3 c. canned Louisiana yams, mashed
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 c. cream
    1 tbsp. butter, melted
    1/2 c. pecans, chopped

    Blend together the sweet potatoes, sugar, salt, spices, butter, cream and half the marshmallows. Spoon into buttered baking dish. Top with pecans and remaining marshmallows. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Marshmallows should be delicately browned.

    And a recipe I got from my SIL:

    Sweet Potato Casserole
    1 29oz Can Sweet Potatoes, drained
    1 tsp each cinnamon & nutmeg
    3 tbsp light cream cheese
    2 tbsp brown sugar
    1/3 C crushed pineapple, drained
    1/4 tsp salt
    3 tbsp pecans or walnuts, chopped (optional)
    1 tbsp margarine

    Preheat oven to 350*F

    Combine sweet potatoes and spices in a mixing bowl. Beat mixture at medium speed 2 minutes, or until smooth with an electric mixer. Add sugar, margarine and cream cheese to mixture and beat at med speed until well combined. Stir in pineapples and salt. Spray a 9-inch round pyrex baking dish with vegetable spray and add mixture. Bake for 30 minutes, then add pecans and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
