Default The cheapest cruise....how do you find them?

I really want to take a short cruise with husband and my two college age children. Scheduling is a big issue (another story) but sometime in the spring/early summer.

How do you find the best deal? Is Priceline a good way to go? I know we don't want Carnival but other than that probably not picky.

Please help.

Money is tight.

Thanks so much!

Are you set on a cruise? There are several companies that offer all-inclusive vacations to places like Cancun, Punta Cana, Aruba, etc - that includes airfare, hotel, and food.

A few that I know of are: Vacation Express, Apple Vacations, TNT Vacations, and even some major airlines like American Airlines offer all-inclusive vacations.

Just throwing it out there, in case you want to look at some other options! :)

I say go for the cruise I took my first one in Dec 06 and I'd take a cruise over any other vacation..no driving anywhere...no cooking or finding a restaurant..no looking at the same locale for a week....I'm SOLD.

Here are some sites that I use regularly. Cruisecompete.com, cruisequick.com,
bestpricecruises.com, cruise411.com. Use online resources for getting the lowest price. Cruise compete is convenient because several agents will give you bids.
I have also booked through skyscraper tours, she regularly puts bids in at cruise compete with good rates.
Princess has some very good rates for the Spring for 7 day cruises.

You'll have to shop around as with anything but once you do book a cruise I'll tell you that if the price goes down after you've booked, most TA's and all cruise companies will give you price adjustments. If you have a balance then the amount you owe will be adjusted or if you have paid in full they will give you shipboard credit in that amount.

It can be significant with 4 people. Watch the price to the very end once you have settled on a cruise.

OT: Carnival is not bad and my first 2 cruises were Disney.

sounds crazy but book for one during hurricane season. my hubby booked our honeymoon during hurricane season thinking the "hot" next to the price only met a great price when in actuality cruises during hurricane season are marked hot because they are cheaper because people just don't want to chance it. Our 1st cruise got rerouted to bermuda, which would have been a much more expensive cruise. We went on the same cruise again the following year hoping to go to the places we were supposed to the first but again got rerouted. The way we figure it if you are wanting to go just a a vacation to some place warm with an beach and blue ocean then it doesn't matter, they'll reroute you to a similiar place away from the storms. We will ALWAYS book during hurricane season now. We paid less than half price both times and enjoyed the sunshine every time. Oh and we cruised royal caribbean, very good cruise line

The best deal is find someone who works on a cruise ship. I've paid only port charges up to 10.00 a day on several ships I've been on depending on the employee discounts.

The most I've paid is 350.00 for 9 nights on Regent/Radisson a luxury liner, with every cabin a suite with balcony.

I have 2 cruises planned for this spring, a 6 day and 8 day, my cost 140.00

How do you "find" someone who works on a cruiseship and get an employee discount? Do you date them or just find them and ask about a discount. I'm a bit confused about this, but would truly love to know how you do this.
