Default Nashville, TN: Where to eat?

I'll be visiting Nashville with the hubby soon, and we are looking for some non-chain restaurants. We like to dine at local places when we go on trips because we can get chain restaurant food anywhere. We'll be staying near the airport, and we'll be visiting the Grand Ole Opry and the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. Restaurants don't have to be super close to these locations, but I don't want to drive clear across town for every meal.

My husband mentioned he'd like to go somewhere to watch the Titans game while we eat on Sunday. We're big sports fans, and he thought it'd be fun to watch the game with other fans in the team's home town.

Anyone have suggestions? We like most types of food, and I'm big on awesome desserts.

There is a restaurant that I have wanted to go to for years. I definitely can't afford it but wish I could. I heard great reviews on it. Depending on what you want to spend, it is expensive, at least to me it is, lol I checked the prices a few years ago and it was $40 a person for a buffet. Kids are cheaper but still expensive. It is New Orleans Manor and it at a plantation from what I heard. Very good food, a ton of seafood from New Orleans sent to Tennessee, that is why it is ridiculously expensive. It is in Nashville and if you go I believe you will love it. I am originally from New Orleans so I would love the food. Even if I had the money I doubt I would ever pay that but they have been in business for a long time. My sister said it is great and she thinks it is cheap.

We made a special trip to eat at the Loveless Cafe. Its menu is kind of like Cracker Barrel but their bisquits and jams are DELISH! its not fancy at all!

Thanks for the suggestions! I googled the New Orleans Manor, and the sites I found said it had closed. It's probably more pricey than we want to go. The Loveless Cafe menu looks delish! Peach BBQ Sauce? Yes, please!

I like Jack's BBQ. They have a location on or near Broadway, which is kind of like the "main drag" of Nashville. The line is usually out the door! I think there are 2 other locations in more remote areas though--I've been to one, but I couldn't tell you where the heck it is! Check out the website for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and usually you can pull up a lot of good non-chain ideas in a particular city. I believe Nashville had several featured on that show.

We ended up eating at Bar-B-Cutie and The Opry Backstage Grill. We had breakfast free at our hotel and ended up only eating two meals out because we had late breakfasts both mornings. I highly recommend both Bar-B-Cutie and the Opry Grill. The Opry Grill was a little pricey, $40 for DH and I to eat dinner, but totally worth it.

Check out McNamara's Irish Pub on Old Lebanon Dirt Road and Ellendale's Restaurant off of Elm Hill Pike. Both are within 5 miles of the airport and quite good. Oh and if you like Japanese, either sushi or hibachi, I would recommend Kobe's. Its one of the best in town.
