Chicago....REALLY cheap???? (Thanks everyone...but the trip is off!)

XU, I hope you make it to chicago. I am originally from there, and honestly think that everyone should see it at least once :)

You know, whenever we go on vacation, we stock the little fridge in the room with a few things to eat, like sandwich stuff - it helps us at least save on lunches, and you could have things like bagels and cream cheese in there, so then you would just treat yourself for dinner :)

Hey Melli!! I've actually been to Chicago 3 times (all during my first marriage). And all three times, I went there to see the Cubs play! LOL!

We tried re-working the cost, by taking a big cooler with food and drinks, so we wouldn't have to buy anything during the trip there...then re-stocking it when we got there to cover breakfast and lunch. That way we'd only have to pay for dinner each night. But, we still can't do it. The cost for the rental car, hotel and gas just aren't in our budget. I mean...let's face it...three months ago, we thought we were going to lose our house. We're very fortunate that we can pay our bills every month. And I do count my blessings every day!!

I hope you make it over again some time :) And visit places like Navy Pier and the museums. They really are wonderful. I totally understand how you feel about being fortunate for what you have right now. :D
