HELP Going to Disney World-Need Help

My family is going to Disney World Next year.
We are going August 2011 (somewhere within last 2 weeks of august)

I went through the disney website to get a quote
What I quoted was Disney 6 night/7 day at disney resort, with 7 day hopper and water park addmission and the quick dining plan was $3,463 for my family of 5

The quote I got from AAA was 3,136. I would have expected AAA to be higher because don't they need to get something for booking the trip?

Am I doing something wrong here? I thought if I did everything myself it would be cheaper.

I still need to account for driving down and back (rental car) and souveniers, as well as food for trip down and back, gas and other foods while we are there that are not included in the dining package.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would check the price of everything individually.

I like Embassy Suites hotels since you can get a full cooked breakfast to order for free. There is one just 1 mile from Disney.

    Here is what they offer:

Lake Buena Vista Hotels - Embassy Suites Orlando Hotel, FL - Florida
    • Complimentary scheduled transportation to and from all Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort Theme Parks
    • Disney Magic Your Way for purchase at our guest services desk
    • Complimentary Cooked-to-order Breakfast every morning
    • Complimentary Manager's Reception every evening
    • Complimentary hotel parking
    • Complimentary Internet access is available in the Business Center and the Internet Kiosk in the lobby; wireless Internet connection is available in the guest rooms for a nominal fee.
I used dates of late august of this year and the rate was $113.00. Also, 5 people can stay there in one room since they have a living room that makes out into a bed and two beds in the bed room.

Then for tickets I would get a quote from Embassy and one from Disney. You never know Embassy might get you it cheaper.

We are going next week. I used AAA to book everything for me. It was cheaper for us to use AAA than for me to book it myself. Plus I ended up getting an upgraded room (we are staying on site) for less than the package they originally booked for us (ie they rebooked the deal for us when the spring specials were released).

We're going in June. What was supposed to start off as a family of 5 vacation has turned into 14... all my siblings and my dad and step mom decided to join us, lol.

We ended up booking a 7bdrm vacation home for everyone. Between our part of the house, disney tickets, dinner shows, food, etc.. we are going to spend 5k...

Don't forget the AAA hospitality center they have at the Magic Kingdom if you book through there. August is extremely hot and the AAA center has free couchs, free refreshments, a/c, etc.

It's back by the Carousel of Progress.

DH and I just booked a trip (did everything our selves). We used a site (google wdw packages) that allowed us to stay at a new resort right outside disney world for 6 nights, included 2 days at disney, 2 days at seaworld and 1 day at Gatorland for $1400. With that said, my son is 2 (he will be 3 at the end of this month) so he gets in free everywhere. We are going next week so I will definitely report back about the room.

I have taken 8 trips to disney in the past 5 yrs, I travel alone w/ 3 kids(1 is always a kid's friend and all over 9yrs) and i have never spent more than$1800 staying on site in a perferred room w/ the meal plan, we have both flew(from pa) and driven so that depends largly on air fare and gas prices , I have gone through AAA,and directly w/ disney, you just need to check both and see where the best deals, also disney has a no ask no tell policy so if you ask the rep directly about various discounts or specials or even an upgrade you will be told, otherwise you get what pops up on the screen.I personally check out the site mousesavers for most up to date info on disney and just remember if you book you trip and a better offer w/ a discount becomes available you can have both disney and AAA apply the discount code to your reservation.

take a look at themouseforless.com they are to disney discounts what we are to coupons. I used their preferred travel agent and saved a TON.
also, while there, at the B&M places - not the carts- ice water is free. Ask for a Cup Of Ice Water. If you ask for water, you get bottled and pay for it. You don't have to buy anything, just ask for ice water. You can take koolaid sngles or the like for free kids drinks.
    That alone saves a lot.
