QUESTION RV Rentals

Has anyone ever rented an RV? If so, how was it? Was it a hassle to rent? Were there any hidden costs? Any tips or suggestions?

in advance for your help!

I've wondered about this too. Supposed to be a family reunion and I'm kinda curious since I'm not looking forward to sleeping in a tent without a bathroom.

El Monte is big, you see their rentals everywhere.

My DH actually is an RV tech and the company he works for rents out RVs. Usually there are not problems, but if you have technical/mechanical problems on the road, they find you places to get serviced, and basically hold your hand through it. I was very surprised at the number of rentals they deal with. So far, the most expensive they have rented out is for $300 a night, but it is def. luxury and spacious as far as RVs go. We are hoping to take advantage of the perks of his job and rent one ourselves at Christmas and go to the mountains.

GO Rv'ing is a huge thing around here. I have checked into it. The prices seem to compare but then to factor in gas for it and the food you will have to buy and things sometimes its cheaper to just get a hotel. Compare everything. You can go to the website I believe and get a price comparison list.

My sister & I did an 8 day road trip through the FL coast this summer with 4 little kids in a rented RV. Loved every minute of it. Fabulous way to travel with little ones! But it was costly.

The rental alone was $1400 for the week (we had to have a larger RV because of having 6 people, and we traveled just over 800 miles). Then gas, food, supplies. We ended up not cooking every meal like we'd planned because the kitchen was tiny and it we found it stressful to cook. We also needed supplies we hadn't thought of, like a broom, kitchen cloths, TP, laundry mat (for towels & sheets mid-week), paper towels, and we ran the on-board generator occasionally to keep the fridge cool. Overall it was not a cheap way to travel, but we did love it. Would definitely do it again!
